In the spirit of a smooth transition: Who would like to host the next iteration? Preferably someone who hasn't hosted yet.

wow @macros mk2 where the hell have you been? its been a minute i swear

@cs15flac yeah thats another classic one, the same person made both of them actually so youre probably picking up on his style. theres actually this video game that came out that i saw not long ago, where they have a mode that stylizes the game where the atmosphere is in his famous lofi hip-hop bag - it looks dope, i just cant focus on video games like i use too unfortunately

yes the movie takes place in the middle of the show chronologically, i forget what episode- oh between 22 and 23. also the creator of the show, shinichiro watanabe, has a new one out, lazarus. haven't watched it yet, can't find it on the torrent sites and anyways its on the same list of shows and movies that are on hold until i get a big ass nice tv someday.

as for the live action version of bebop, much like the live action version of ghost in the shell and always rumored akira live action film (WHERE THEY WANTED TO CHANGE THE LOCATION TO NYC).... never heard of it. i 100% believe you there are some good moments in there, especially visually, but yah bebop is in my top 10 easy for all time favorite movies/shows... so i didn't want to risk it tainting my nostalgia of bebop. i even have a license plate holder that says "see ya in space cowboy" ha. ive seen it a shitload of times, and still would rather just rewatch the original, especially after the new one got trashed in reviews. so i forgot it existed until you just mentioned it again, and now i will go back to forgetting it existed.

like if you watch this scene, notice how many cuts and different shots there are. wayyy more than the average anime tv show, probably even just the average show in general. also, this maybe sacrilegious but i only watch it in the english dub. how i first saw it, english is my first language...and only language, the english voice actors are amazing, and imo english being the common language in the future makes more sense than japanese does. something like akira would obviously be better in japanese of course.i digress, but yeah a favorite of mine too for sure!

yoooo grape! you know just being depressed af, stressed living paycheck to paycheck in this shit place, barely functioning. the usual. lol. but also besides that the last two pics i never really made anything TO them, like dunno i tried to get inspired but it didn't happen. Much more to do with the aforementioned depression than the quality of images believe me. everything feels like a bland meal you're picking at when you're not even hungry. so it goes!

i made a decent techno-y type song a few weeks ago i thought about shoehorning in here, but it'd be a lie to say i made it while thinking of john and yoko and the maid lol. my big idea was to sample yoko ono screaming while chuck berry and lennon were jamming and berry gets all pissed looking hahaha classic clip, but i never got around to it. got distracted after making that techno song, thought "i should make a few more decent quality 120bpm 4 on the floor beats and blend them with this one like a dj set, that should be simple" which is nice in theory, but the decent quality part keeps being the hang up. always is! well looks like im inserting this song anyway now haha, i DID have the picture open while i made some of this so we'll half count it
i tried to distort a bunch of shit but keep like below 80-100hz ish more clean, not sure how well that worked out. new headphones, hifiman ananda nanos which are great and have SOOOO much more bass than the hd600s i have as well, so been having fun with making bassy shit at least. still dont trust my mixes without being able to like listen on decent monitors in a solid environment with a subwoofer and preferably someone who knows what they're doing sitting besides me saying "this is wrong and this is wrong and this is wrong"

oh speaking of bass, i just got a bunch of braam sounds for the virus TI, so next entry you can be SURE there will be a bunch of BWAAAA sound effects gratuitously scattered about. i haven't really read through much of this thread last time i skimmed through things you were in morocco i think! hope you had a good time and some good cocktails!

@macros mk2 I was depressed for practically a lifetime. I never really though about what I was actually eating and I never went in the sun, and if I did I would get bad sunburn.
I'm surely lucky to be here today.
Then I found Vitamin D. and I started eating better, since 2008 let's say. since 2019 eating good stuff at home, risk free ingredients.
I'm not depressed any more. poor nutrition, poisons like pharma, no sun, isolation, little psychophysical exercise these are some of the things that hurt people very commonly.

@macros mk2 oh okay, been there fosho; glad youre feeling better man. for some reason i have a hard time making patches i fuck with for OsTirus by TUS so i dont use it; idk if that one is that synth, i know its one of em but good for you. better headphones you love is always dope too

i like techno stuff when im dancing, not so much just listening but i could see yoko screaming to this lol. though i think you accomplished what you were going for, the low end is definitely cleaner, that middle half thats more atmospheric is a nice change up too imo - i guess you havent been singing though huh?
@Lois Lane we all do the best we can with the situations we've dealt my friend, youre all good

    Done.

I used the new iteration of Urs' Zebra synth which is wonderful to me in the intro, tweaking some preset to my liking. I also recorded everything beside the little frog percussion scratch thing and my vocals in a stereo two mic thing. I wanted to give that needing of a neck reset 1980 Ibanez jumbo a send-off but it was just unplayable so tuned the D‐18 to a Gm chord with the low string a very flabby low G then G D G Bb D. The other guitars which I love the sound of, though because of the flat radius fretboard and the anatomy of my fingernails always rips the skin where the nail meets flesh which hurts like crazy and has me pause to heal up every time I go for it. It's that 1963 little red Framus, this time with only the three higher strings tuned G D D. There's a drum machine playing the same four beat, that DMX thing I'm checking out and then I added what is called a bata in Cuba, a double headed drum with two different tones. This one is tiny.

It's a quirky little number with the lyrics...

    Maria, Yoko and John

    Come over to the bed
    You'll really like the bed
    The bed, it won't bite
    Come over to the light

    Have a sleepover
    You don't have to go
Maria come and change the sheets
We've been sweating out for peace

    Come over to the bed
Your gonna really like the bed
    Yoko likes the bed
    I really like the bed
    You're gonna like it too

Dear @Lois Lane, thank you for your contribution, both lyrical and musical. Finally, some handmade, human-made music again! It sounds great and has a wonderful effect; you and your music make one feel truly at ease. Real instruments have this warmth and touch the soul more deeply than the overly digitalized modern world. In short, this is further proof of the irreplaceable value of real, human musicians.

Ennio mixed it for me. He was making big eyes in the hope that you'd recognize his signature sound. I guess he'll just take his existential angst out on a rat down by the river now.

Coffee maker is it's night job... that's the bata from Cuba.

@macros mk2 Just today I was presented with a short video (taken from TikTok and reposted I guess), which was made to be aggressive and powerful and intimidating. These videos typically feature sounds that try to match the mood. And I must say, I can really imagine young people would pick your sound as well for that purpose of rage. I liked your piece. Thank you for letting us hear it .

@Lois Lane Nice one! I am in awe, for hearing your vision come together in this piece. And I do find your lyrics interesting. Simple but with enough substance, so that thinking about it seems like a good idea.

    Dear all readers and doers,

it was fun hosting the FNC 17 for you. There were some fantastic contributions to our little adventure. We reflected on the past, the future, felt inspired to finish things, did sonic collages and atmospheres, digital and analog, with and without vocals - not voiceless, went avant garde, poetic and even to other continents.
Thank you so much for joining in :)

Here are the artistic contributions for the FNC 17 in chronological order:
