Im not convinced. Sure, looks like a decent synth, the demo video sounds fine, but nowadays, a synth has to be revolutionary, in design, sound, features etc.

 

hmmm, after further inspection, i revoke my previous statement. The ultrawave sample import is pretty cool. Powerful and simple. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for any confusion this may have caused. My family and i have discussed this matter deeply and have decided to take some time off to reflect on my behavior and determine how I can do better in the future. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this emotional time.

 

I would suggest RAPID synth is way better even on paper

It doesn't have enough control over the partials for what I need (per partial tuning) (which would require to code my own or use MaxMSP or something similar, unfortunately).

Or it does? Need to check the manual


Found this:
Frequency multiply of fundamental (A/B): Ratio
relative to note frequency.

So, it seems it cannot do inharmonic sounds like FM-like or pitched percussion timbres easily, if it is a multiples of the base frequency (limited to more standard harmonic series timbres).

Hi all. I'm Nigel, the developer of this synth.

What's interesting about this synth? Well, the new osc type is UltraWave, which is like a cross between a sampler and a wavetable. It's based on an idea I had over a decade ago.

You may have seen my Cymatics video on YouTube. I've always enjoyed looking at waveforms, and thinking of ways to synthesise and recreate them. UltraWave extends wavetable synthesis with pitch, stereo and multi-sampling. The video below does a good job of explaining the basics...

I tried to find someone to build this as a plugin. I did know how to code, but only basic websites. I couldn't get anyone interested, so I built a prototype of the algorithm in HTML. This was very slow but it actually worked!

Eventually I found a couple of fellow Kiwi musicians, and we started the project. Learning C++ was sort of fun and sort of a nightmare. We had to learn all sorts of coding disciplines, from Reverb design to 3d graphics. This took longer than expected... I first posted a picture of the app in 2018 (!). But, finally we are here.

We have tried to make everything as easy to use as possible, and have included a bunch of animated screens that show you the levels of your modulations etc.

The synth includes free lifetime updates. We have a lot of new features in development which we can't wait for you to see - new Oscillator types, new FX and a few surprises.

We are building out the factory patch library, and will be adding patches continually. These are included at no cost and will sync and download as they are added.

If you're interested, you can download a trial where every feature works, except for saving.

I'm not sure I need another synth to play with right now, but holy smokes that's a very nice UI. There's a lot going on because obviously this plugin is pretty complex.. but I think you've done a really good job at giving me an idea of what each section in there does. Sometimes I look at something like Imposcar3 and my brain explodes lol. Ultra Synth seems pretty nicely organized, and the animations all have a very nice modern look to them.

One day I will get to it though, as I can't seem to get enough VSTis. lol

 

Collecting that much information and doing who know$ what with it $hould be enough to keep them in bu$ine$$ without $elling a $ingle piece of garp-ware.

If that thing didn't say "ultra" at the top I'd $wear it was $erum.

 

Is this an unlimited trial which doesn’t expire after like 20 minutes or a week? And how about adding some physical modeling oscillator and more interesting filter types like formant, comb and spectral? And how large is the installer currently?

It's right to be concerned about information collecting, but to register you just need name and email address. You can enter a fake name if you're too shy. It's pretty different from Serum, but to each his own!

Yes there is a rent to own. After that is complete it has free lifetime updates.

Oh, I thought it only had more standard filters like analog emulations and digital slopes, we’re talking crazy resonances, modal filters, spectral stuff, color bass, etc.
