I just quit, a week ago. Quit many times before, sometimes for months, even years. But to quote a great man:

I still smoke in at least half of the dreams I have at night, even if I otherwise haven't in years

 

I haven't smoked for 8 years, because I don't want to and I don't have to

 

I grew up with a smokaholic father. He smoked ten Cuban cigars a day - about half of them in the house.

The piano was in the living room, so I had no choice if I wanted to play but endure breathing the smoke. I suffered major headaches, migraines even, because of his smoking, throughout my childhood and teens.

So that would be a hard no, never have-never will, for me.

 

After a long period of not smoking I did buy myself a pouch of tobacco for Xmas and New Years holiday period, because I wanted to smoke some dope with it. So to roll joints essentially.

Well, I didn't find tobacco that enjoyable anymore, I did get a slight buzz out of it on its own, but it went down great with some buds.

After I finished the tobacco I thankfully felt no need to get more, because while it was fun to relive a bit of youth with smoking joints there are better ways to consume dope.

 

the 4% of longterm heroine addicts that make it out alive might disagree that Quitting smoking is harder than quitting drugs but i agree just don't start i started age 12 quitting is was not easy

 

Never. Got a lot of second hand growing up. Dad died in his early 70's because of it. During his last few years he couldn't hardly catch his breath. No alcohol here either, ever. I am a freakshow.

Smoked pot for 25 years, then roll ups on and off for another 5 years, then vapes for 3. Its been 6 years since i smoked anything and tobacco tastes so bad now I think I'm totally over it.

I dont know about that. Abruptly stopping Gabapentin caused me to constantly vomit and shit myself so badly an ambulance had to be called to give me antiemetics. Paramedic said ' oh yeah, that's worse than heroin withdrawal, you're lucky, it can kill you'. Id been taking a high dose for just 6 weeks!

Tobacco is ok to shake off, you just have to ignore the nagging hourly urges for a couple of weeks.

Regarding the cigarette tax:

In 1980, a pack of tobacco 50g cost 3.60 DM (1.80 €).
In 2026, a pack of tobacco 30g cost 20.00 DM (10 €).

Please don't stop smoking; the government needs the money.

Please also gamble again, because the government needs the gambling tax.
And damn it, drive more, because the government lives off the fuel tax.

It used to be called theft; now it's called taxation!

Never smoked, sadly most of my friends smoke since 20-30 years and they complain a lot about health and aging too fast..

 

After fracturing my coccyx I was prescribed Targin (oxycodon/naloxone), then fenetyl and finally methadone over a three year period for the chronic pain and nerve related damage. I had smoked tobacco for over 40 years and it was wayyy, wayyy easier to quit smoking tobacco than those opiates, so much so that when last year I had a double hernia operation I insisted that they NOT give me morphine post surgery, much to the amazement of the nurse lest just that taste wake up that sleeping monkey

About the Gabapentin, a doctor prescribed it to me in order to help me get away from the opiates. After the first tablet I felt that there was something fucked up about it when it seemed that my mind was subtly shifted in regard to reality and then saw a parked car seem like it shivered in it's parking space. That was the last and only time I took it...thank goodness, as all I have heard about stopping taking it even after a short period time are just nightmares scenarios and regret as well as the impossible, heavy and even unbearable life threatening withdrawal symptoms. It's a fucking crime to put that shit out in the world whenn there are alternatives.

I still have the last bottle of Methadon around as a sort of talisman to keep the Devil at bay.

 

Even non-smokers sometimes get lung cancer. If there's too much particulate matter in your city or area, or in your house, you'll also get sick. I once read an EU statistic that approximately 4 million Europeans die from particulate matter pollution every year. Take a look at the air quality readings from an air monitoring station in your area.

Absolutely! Cities are horrible and very unhealthy places to live in. Get out, if you can. A clean suburb will do, too. And you don't have to worry so much about your pets getting smashed. I hate cities with passion. Even if we changed 100% to EVs, it wouldn't be a good place to live in, imo.
