As the title suggests, I'd like to know people's thoughts on AI video generation.
The purpose for which I intend on using it for is completely non-music related.
But there are so many out there I have no idea what is good and what is not.
If anyone here has had any experience with any platforms, please share your experiences in this post.
I can't really afford to spend a ton of money on another subscription. I'm broke enough as it is. But I have an idea I want to explore. So more interested in platforms that give bang for your buck.

What do you want to generate and for what purpose—your music? What are your goals? Windows 11?

Absolutely nothing to do with music.
My wife and I have had an idea for a gothic vibe channel.
Just wanted to use an AI generator to use for short clips, promo, etc etc. The majority of the content will be filmed on set. Just wanted to actually upload my wife's face and have AI generate videos using her features and have videos for promo etc being in a castle for example.
The Goals are to have a specific genre interested in that style who would subscribe through sites like Patreon.

 

for exploration you want local AI, so you'll need rather beefy PC (ideally at least 24GB nvidia gpu and 64GB ram),

as UI frontend you can use wan2gp or ComfyUI,
as backend models, it's Wan 2.1, Wan 2.2, Hunyuan, LTX-2 and others you can choose from

Another option is to generate images with AI and then string these generated
images together using video editing software, perhaps adding captions.

 

that's actually very relevant advice still, best AI video quality is achieved by using reference images like storyboards, combined with video/controlnet motion guides

Kling if you want higher resolution cinematic widescreen clips. But there's a fail rate with any gen subscription. Only maybe 50% of clips will be usable.

Veo 3.1 is free if you want vertical mobile phone ready clips, but it'll have their watermark on it (you can remove that with a good video editor)

 

LTX-2 is more resource friendly than Wan for local inferences atm, there are destilled versions that can run from 8 to 16gb VRAM. And it renders audio as well, is a crazy good model for it's size.

But ComfyUI has a little learning curve, is not like closed source web applications.

 

I'm a bit of a dummy when it comes to computers and AI.
I just watched the video on their homepage.
So is this like a host program you download and use on our PC, and the import all different AI models directly on your computer and everything is done on your machine rather than from a Data Center??
Didn't see too much on there about videos.
I wouldn't even know where to start with this

 

assuming you already have decent nVidia graphics card to run any of that reasonably, here's easiest way:
1) download Pinokio - https://pinokio.co/download.html
that will be your AI managing interface
2) in Pinokio, download Wan2GP
that will be your video AI user interface (runs as a local website)
3) in Wan2GP there are plenty modes and video AI models to choose from
(models will be downloaded as you go, some may not work on your spec)

don't be confused with datacenters and huge facilities, those are needed only for AI training, not AI inference (generation)

 

Something to take into account and one reason i bailed on local video generation on my midrange PC. Rendering time.

Unless you invest in some meaty hardware, waiting over 20 mins for a low res clip that came out wrong (happens often) isn't a pleasant creative process. And if it comes out ok, you'll need to upscale it. So that's even more slow processing time and other complex free software to set up OR buy a good quality video upscaler like topaz.

Subscription AI video gen is fast and easy BUT you'll burn through credits fast to get really solid clips. They aren't good value generally.

A lot of local AI evangelists are guilty of down selling the hardware cost and complexity of installing and using software like ComfyUI. They are very fiddly and complex tools, patience, time and enthusiasm is needed. You tube has some good tutorials luckily.

 

and needs even more beefier hardware (than local rig) to produce generic results - and prices will keep going up significantly once people are hooked to them

if anyone thinks cloud AI tools are affordable, they fail to understand the concept of business where pouring millions requires investment return and profitability

 

I literally explained the MASSIVE issues with ALL the AI industry elsewhere here BUT for a guy wanting to play right now, we have to be honest - offline and online options are costly. But one you can do quickly with just a simple subscription. Good quality AI generation is expensive for everyone. (Even your offline model had to be trained at great cost.)

 

And frankly i wouldn't recommend anyone dumping serious money into a local AI rig right now with the inflated hardware prices and an AI industry that will probably implode over the next year or two. Id wait, let that happen, and see how local tools development continues because that side isn't going anywhere, but hardware markets, models and software will change a lot over that time.

 

Whenever these topics come up and people post examples, I'm always left puzzled.

Seems worth it.

 

The only way to counter this is through reason and intelligence, to properly utilize all the technological inventions we have on this planet. It's always the misuse, the malice, or the stupidity that causes so much suffering when existing technological achievements are abused.

And ever since trade for goods and services was invented, people figured they can trade something to do something about their horniness. This is nothing new. Old as human history in fact.

You think it would make the same revenue if it was all glitchy AI slop like you posted?

And that's yet another industry that AI slop peddlers are looking to ruin.
