Fabfilter is best because of panning, mid side, automation control, auto gain, the pro q 4, Pro-MB the Saturn is wild i mean..., so you can get better results if ur skilled with them,, but there is easier quality plugins for sure

 

Since when is a compressor brand genre specific?

 

Since the 60s? When they was made to compress sounds to not overloud other sounds, like a tom overlouding a snare or hi hat.

 

You dont know what a compressor is? Well it reduces the signal, to a value of choice, so you can blend in other sounds, today you can just use a fader, in the 60s, they used mics, and that was the problem, they needed something in between, hence the compressor.

What do you need compression for in electronic music? Maybe 5 Synths grouped, to reduce peaks, but you can just use a limiter on each channel. Or saturate it to reduce peaks, which i prefer.
