If you don't have enough money, you could also found a support association to promote synthesizer music and knowledge, or something similar. Depending on the country, you could get non-profit status, and people could become supporting members. You need a charter that sets out the rules.

Books on how to start an association are best. I was a member of a music association in our town that organized concerts and tried to get practice rooms. Perhaps you can also get funding from the EU... as you can see, a lifetime achievement... call the press or the TV...!

    Hey guys,

As you may have noticed over the last few days, I've been trying to set up the subscription system with PATREON on the site, but their WordPress plugin is total garbage. I'm going to look for another solution, and in the meantime, the site is open as usual. Go check out The Modular Hub, you're gonna like it. ;)

**VirtualSynthesizers.com WILL ALWAYS BE 100% FREE!** :hifive:

After careful consideration, to ensure the future of the site while keeping it free, ad-free, and without paywalls, I've opted for support through affiliate links.

Until now, our links have pointed directly to the creators' websites.
From now on, to allow us to earn a commission, these links will redirect to the same product, but on the sites of trusted retailers that offer it.

Using one of these links when you are interested in a product is the most direct way to support us. It's this model that allows the site to continue to run and grow.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Hey my friends!

Today at VirtualSynthesizers.com, we're launching the feature that changes everything for virtual synth searches.

Stop wasting time: no more clicking on every single instrument page—now you know what's inside before you even click!

For now, this new feature is available exclusively in the "Synthesizers" category. You'll find two new checkbox filters in the "Software" section to find your ideal instrument in just 2 clicks:

    > "OS" Filter: Check WIN or MAC.
    > "Formats" Filter: Check VST, AU, Kontakt...

The filters are also separated between Hardware and Software for a clearer search experience.

Come test it out and let me know what you think!

I came back to this project today.... it's turning into a motherlode :woot:
    How is it progressing?

My 2cents worth on the home-page appearance layout (if you're still taking suggestions)...
    * a tidy up, simplify by removing the THE from each category. It's repetitive and seems (to me) to add clutter

    Hey everyone!

    Big update !

I've updated the synths, drum machines, and Modular Hub pages. The idea was to give everything a fresh look compared to the old version.

    Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new:

    • Visuals: One or more images so you can get a really good look at the virtual alternatives.

    • Filters: You can now instantly sort by OS, format, or find the free versions in a single click.

    • Smoother experience: An overall much more modern and fluid interface.
What definitely hasn't changed: the site stays 100% free of ad banners and pop-ups.

This is a foundation that will keep evolving over time, but I’m really excited for you guys to test it out.

Go have a look around and let me know honestly what you think. I'm open to all suggestions!

The new synth search engine is live!

    Hey everyone,

    Massive update on virtualsynthesizers.com!

I’ve completely rebuilt the search and sorting system for the synthesizers section to make it much more straightforward and natural to use.
There are now two search modes:

    Hardware Mode:

    1. You search for a physical synthesizer.
    2. The system displays the hardware card. Expanding the panel gives you access to the list of all its virtual alternatives (VST, AU, etc.).
    3. Right inside that panel, a "Submission Matrix" link allows you to suggest a virtual alternative if you know one that we missed.

    Software Mode (Virtual Alternatives):

    1. By plugin name: You see the software details (free/paid, OS, formats) and instantly discover what hardware inspired it via a dedicated mini-card.
    2. By developer: You can display all the virtual alternatives from that developer at once, killing two birds with one stone by also seeing exactly which hardware each of their plugins comes from.
    3. By hardware name: You can display all of its different virtual alternatives at once as individual cards.
    The system also includes:

Real-time filters: You can cross-reference info instantly to narrow down your searches (e.g., finding an additive synth on Linux, or an 80s analog synth in AAX format).

Voting system: I’ve started adding physical synths that currently have no known software version. A dedicated button allows you to vote to request an emulation. This will give us concrete numbers to go motivate developers!

The interface is super responsive, and you can still choose between several visual themes (from Neon to Synthwave) to fit your vibe.

Go test it out and let me know what you think. :)
