Historically, so much great music, art, poetry, scientific discovery, and invention was made during the dark and cold winter evenings while huddled around a warm fire, with a glass of wine or something similar close by. So yeah, nature is great!

nature can be rewarding. if you are a pepper, survivalist and love off grid and have like minded people with you, a community growing , preparing storing and canning your own foods , having some livestock chickens, sheep, goats and cattle, with a vet for the animals a doctor and herbalist/pharmacist. With a group able to co-operate and share the workload, life may be a bit hard but also free from the lunacy of city life.

hmm i'm not sure about this. Such seasonalism :) Art and beauty thrives in sun and warmth as well. Summer and spring in the countryside and by the sea is so inspiring and emotionally fuelling for a creative. Winter i just wait with my brain batteries half full until spring, I find winter so monotonous and grey where i am, not inspiring at all. If i lived up some epic snowy mountain with clear blue skies i might feel different.

I just love working at dawn as a warm day starts, though maybe less so at midday profusely sweating as my pc blasts hot air in my face.

When I lived in NOHO, NYC, my favorite time was very early on a Sunday morning during the Summer after about 5 am when it was almost dead quiet. I'd grab the dog and head out to the street and just trail behind my girl who was never on a leash and had her way unless we were headed to an appointment. It was always absurdly quiet at that particular time and nixed the notion of "the city that never sleeps".

The absolute coolest thing that ever happened those years of mellow mornings was when my dog came upon another hound and started playing with it. I had been reading as we was walking on the corner of Jones and Lafayette one of those incredible Richard Brautigen poem collections once more, The Pill Versus the Springhill Mine Disaster and not paying much mind of anything, engrossed by what was on the page in front of my eyes. Then I heard the deep barreled tone that was engraved in my ear since childhood, much beloved and unmistakable...that of Herman Munster saying, "They really must like each other!". Holy moly, It had to be no other than Fred Gwynn! My 5'7" looked up to his 6"4" with what must have been the biggest, toothiest smile ever to smile a smile...and he was smiling right back down at me. My dog took off looking for new things to smell and pee on and we dog walkers bade each other a pleasant day.

That to me was the best of those early Sunday morns!

One of the homegrown varieties from my garden that I harvested end of October called Strawberry Shortcake from feminized seeds that I bought when in Amsterdam from Barny's.

    And you?

Once per week when visiting family and friends out there. In between, some other trails, a little easier, shorter and less risky.

It depends on where you live. If you injure yourself alone in the woods and your cell phone battery happens to be dead, it could cost you your life. Some traffic accidents are fatal. A few years ago, a football manager fell into the harbor basin in sub-zero temperatures, and it took the divers several days to recover his body.

With our first snow and sustained sub-zero temperatures in our North German city, combined with black ice, several people broke their hands, thighs, forearms, and ankles, requiring emergency room treatment, surgery, and hospitalization. That's also incredibly expensive!

Not really, here in Finland it is usual to have -10-35 celsius in winter were I live, but from -20 to air is also dry and getting sweat is not a good thing, also people don´t understand that in cold you also need hydration, especially if you are working outside(i´ve worked on construction sites at -15 to -20)
Layer wearing is the key word. Feet, ankles, arms, wrist and head are the worst part

You can be robbed anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. Icy road accidents, walking, driving, slipping, falling—several people have broken hands, thighs, forearms, and ankles and had to receive emergency medical treatment, surgery, and be hospitalized. That's why, for example, in Germany there's a legal obligation to clear the roads and paths. There's even a surgical emergency clinic on a slope where skiers and snowboarders practice winter sports and suffer numerous fractures and sprains.

I have no idea how you guys do it. I'm wearing thermo underwear, winter socks, winter house shoes, a shirt + sweater + vest, sitting under a thick blanket with a warm water bottle in a heated room and I can barely move my limbs.

Winter messes me up. Can't wait for spring.
