Roland JP-8000 - the 90's vintage classic synth

The @RolandChannel JP-8000 is in my opinion the best vintage synth of the 90's. It has most of the synthesis tricks we are looking for : Sync, Ring mod, X-mod, LFP, BPF, HPF, 2 LFO, 2 ENV, 8 voices shared on 2 separate patches, an arpegiator, Chorus and Delay. All of this in nice tone of blue.

Considering that the first version of the Nord Lead plugin officially came last February and had been in testing since alpha in the August prior, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see it officially till march unless progress moves faster this time and maybe we could see it in January?

Oh my god, there is a bigger list now of emus! They added many Rolands, Boss, Ensoniq! Synths, DSP effect processors devices! Many of them are in Research status, several in Development!

Sometimes you want something more cos you cant obtain it.

Bought Jp 8000 then sold it and got 8080 for the brilliant Vocoder/filter bank.

Never really liked or rated the synth und it pissed me of that up until a few years ago it was goig for just few hundred quid, so had to hold on to it.

I hadn't used it for years it just sat there so recently got more than i paid for it and bought a Moog Matriarch.

I think its a shitty sounding synth with some quirky operating etc it has a reputation for trance but there is better for that too, you pays your money and you take your choice, was so happy to see the back of mine.

Currently have SE02 JU06A und SH01A, better, more creative and cheaper than JP's.

 

If you are new to these TUS emulations, then it's worth reading up on their blog posts to understand how and why they don't work in the way you might expect. By default, with a setting of Latency Blocks set to 1 in the plugin, your DAW CPU meter does not correctly represent the processor load the plugin is using, for technical reasons. So your DAW meter might say it's only using a few per cent of CPU, but it's lying to you.

In this case, you can use Task Manager/Activity Monitor to look at the load, or if you want the DAW CPOU meter to more accurately reflect the processing load, set Latency Blocks in the plugin to 0. I guarantee that you won't see virtually no CPU load now. ;) The emulator emulates the four DSP chips more or less in serial as that's how they work, so they are all processed on one core and can't easily be parallelised like some of the earlier emulations.

Or you can use the testconsole utility to report on the performance of the plugin on your system.

So yes, for people on older machines without quite so much single core power available, this one is pretty CPU demanding. It should be fine on more recent machines. (It's already been massively optimised to get it to this point.)

interesting interesting.. after trying it it sounds kinda good but most of the sounds sound a bit outdated now.. nexus 5 is still the best
this is quite interesting actually.. the hardware is absolutely NOT worth 900 euro.. it should be 300 max.. this sounds good for leads and basses in trance music.. already encountered bugs in the software

the interface is hard on the eyes the way it looks like.. airwave is much better by adam szabo looking

Yes interesting product ! But I also prefer the UI of airwave, it's 25 off until 31 december, so around 50 euros, great deal !
