If one was to say... copy/paste an entire thread from az ; is anyone using an offline notepad that would retain that fresh AZ formatting?

Maybe a little overprotective, but copy pasta with google notes/other online notebank seems... careless? Using Joplin currently, looking into Obsidian and Craft but casting this line in case anyone has found a solid prog - thanks in advance! {win10}

 

I know what u mean.
- and it's a hastle to paste as 'plain text' / 'no formatting' - then edit all the rubbish characters.

KVRAudio has a button on the comments/thread pages for 'Print Version', which can be copy-pasted with simpler formatting.
- Maybe send an enhance to the Admin. to request this!

Or, another option is to ZIM the website and browse it with the KIWIX browser.
1. Download and install KIWIX at https://kiwix.org/en/applications/
2. Go to https://zimit.kiwix.org/#/
3. Enter website address and other info to archive the website to a ZIM file
4. wait for the ZIM file to be created
5. Download ZIM file
6. Load ZIM file into KIWIX
7. You have archived the website and can browse offline
*I do this with WIKIPEDIA and even SWEETWATER.

Good call! Checked out save as pdf and its an acrobat save (which I'd imagine is a direct line to adobe). Will post winning prog/method in this thread once I've sorted a solution

Another out-of-the-box consideration! Nice one!! So FF reader gives us:

which delivers us a useable formatting grade and is definitely on the way to the notepad!

(chrome using this method gives:

links active but no formatting and shows only highlighted text


The zim file from @bluerover method completed and definitely delivers the goods (partial pic):


plus it can pull a single thread (v. entire site), which can then be saved & organized by topic et al.
Only major drawback here is the time to created the zim. Took a little over an hour (starting at 3rd in the queue), for the thread to be captured. Maybe they have a paid tier or smn should time be of the essence. They also offer a set of advanced options, pre-scrape, which escaped me initially but I'll already consider extremely useful

Another solution to this which I use is SingleFile. SingleFile is a Firefox/Chrome extension that saves a complete page (with CSS, images, fonts, frames, etc.) as a single HTML file. That single file can then be opened in your browser and rendered exactly as the original web site does. It's great for saving the web page and comments that you download a release from. It's quick and easy to save it with the downloaded files for future reference.

yknow, my isp my been acting all kinds of shifty and hands-on the last few months; this page doesn't work, that page has insecure connection; these type of error messages, but all very recent. I live out at the beach and there is only one isp out here. Random (and not-so-random ) behaviors have been catching my attention recently so I'm maybe being too cautious when I don't want docs read and 'sent home'. Adobe, Google, MS, Apple etc. - ..all total pieces of shit and I'd love to find a workaround. I mean, they comb the emails for keywords to sell etc etc., why wouldn't they keep a record of everything you've been doing? Lol was planning on adding a vpn (nordvpn) to this system tonight and yet.. here we are thanks though

 

I like SingleFile because it captures the web page exactly and the file renders exactly, as one long scroll. Print to PDF breaks the web page into multiple pages which can breakup images and text blocks.

 

whatever editor with markdown support, don't overcomplicate things
