A while back, ccleaner was hacked... and yes i was using the software at the time lol
I think they are owned by avast now, so maybe their security is better now? I would still avoid regardless.
Also I concur Bleachit -- perfect alternative.

Look, I'm by no means a cyber security expert - I do work in IT and IT security is getting way more demanding - I would not trust an older version of security software to be finding what is out there at the moment, that sounds like a recipe for infection.
I've used CCleaner in the past and it did a thing but I don't trust it now and would not recommend it, as others have mentioned it is less secure and more enshittified.
Is Windows Defender also enabled? If so, it might have deleted it, maybe for good reason. Defender can be a resource hog but is free, built-it and fairly good at what it does. There are other altermatives if you don't like it.
If you're a purist that doesn't want to run AV on your production machine, then air-gap it i.e DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE INTERNET. At least boot on to an external Windows-on-the-go drive to access the internet that doesn't recognise your main drive, if that's your only PC - Rufus can do this.
At the end of the day, most of the people in this space - you know who you are, if you don't then your're proabably not part of it - take risks to seek the reward of new and exciting software. If you're operating in fairly safe spaces, SS for example, 99% of the time you'll probably be OK, in which case you can white-list some folders or unquarantine some files and you'll probably be fine.
But IMO if you think your system has been compromised then make a note of the compromised software (or at least the last few you've installed) nuke the system (i.e. do a complete reinstall) delete that software and start over. Or pay for some up-to-date security software - which, if you're in this space - is proabably not something you're able or willing to do.
Relying on old versions of security software is, again IMO, just going to bite you in the arse later.

 

nobody needs bullshit software as CCleaner. Deleting it from your disk is the best thing you can do with it.

 

I ran CCLeaner and I disappeared. I hear my computer is running fine now.

I would strongly advise you to use Revo Uninstaller so everything really will be disappeared
