I can't judge a developer for chasing the market demand, So I preserve some traditional applications for myself and future family before all the fun of exploring and "figuring things out" gets deprecated by the generation of prompters. Sure, prompts will be useful for many things, even music in some cases. But i really like the idea of playing music for myself - If you feel the same, archive those older DAW versions incase the "go away".

FL Studio Web, popular digital audio workstation arrives in your browser: now in beta - December 15,2025

FL Studio Web (formerly Fruity Loops) is now usable in your DAW with full compatibility and native plugins: now in beta.

Digital audio workstations (DAWs) have come a long way. From the first digital audio tape recorders in 1977 to today, where we can use Logic Pro on the iPad.

Thanks to increasingly powerful systems, anyone can now produce music with professional tools, even on a basic computer or tablet. Image Line has now made it even easier for everyone, especially beginners, to use a DAW. They have put FL Studio in a web browser.

    FL Studio Web
Not only has DAW technology in general come a long way, but so has the former Fruity Loops, now FL Studio. Starting as a Windows-exclusive DAW, it later added macOS support.

Then came stripped-down iOS version experiments, and now it’s available in a web browser. It’s still in public beta with a limited user base, but it’s now available in your browser. That’s a big step.

FL Studio Web is the full FL Studio experience in the browser, with full compatibility and native plugins, according to the developers. The idea is compelling: you can start projects in your browser on the go and complete them in FL Studio desktop software.

A great advantage is that you don’t need to install any additional software to use the web version. According to CDM, it will also be compatible on Linux and processor architectures (ARM/x64).

This likely means it will also be available on tablets like the iPad. Okay, it won’t be a standalone iOS app with AUv3 plugin compatibility, etc. However, bringing FL Studio to the iPad could be a step forward.

    Low Barrier To Enter
It will most likely use the FL Cloud infrastructure to manage files and tasks, including session storage. This also makes it easy to access ongoing online tutorials or collaborate with other musicians, since you can use it online.

A key feature of FL Studio Web is its very low barrier to entry. This eliminates the need for software installation. Instead, a simple registration on the website opens the door for your future tracks. And of course, a connection to the internet.

At present, it is unclear whether this offer is limited to FL Studio users or available to everyone. It is also unknown whether it is free or only available with an FL Studio license.

This is an exciting step FL Studio is taking, and one I will continue to monitor.

The official website is now online. However, there’s a waitlist for the FL Studio Web public beta. You can sign up with your existing Image-Line account.

Don't give a fuck about any AI features, so will not talk about that.

But as a technical feat, porting a full DAW to a browser given the limitations of it's runtime is impressive as hell. Sure, no way to use more than one stereo pair for I/O and one MIDI port but still that's solid work.

Yeah, we've seen some impressive web apps that would be normally desktop exclusive like Photopea that I do use every now and then.

Could I see myself using a web DAW? Maybe for some touchups, quick changes, or collaboration work or something like that? I don't know.

One thing that I could see using though is a semi-featured audio editor, I've got a decent one on my phone etc of course but that requires extra work to handle getting shit in and out of it.

But kudos to the FL team for pulling this off, whatever the outcome.

because all other browser DAWs worked so great in the past.

now what might have high demand, is DAWs on linux to leave windows finally behind.

and no WEB-DAW is not the solution.

I don't think the DAW getting ported to a browser is a bad thing, you're probably using many applications that have chromium in the backend. I wouldn't want it as the default, though, but it seems fairly handy to record or edit something quickly, especially if you're on the go.

FL wants to grow; their market research has shown there's a demand for FL Web, and therefore they're developing it.
Of course, as always, the profits must exceed or at least cover the development costs.

These kinds of statements are conceivable:

    USER 1
I was on the train, in the middle of composing and writing a song, when we went through a tunnel with no internet connection.
Oh man, all that work for nothing.

    USER 2
Great, guys, I just wanted to let you know, I just got hacked, all my banking information is gone.
FL Web must have a security flaw after all. I need to block my bank card... see you later!

    USER 3
User XY, feeling a bit offended, had his battery die mid-song. In a fit of anger, he threw his smartphone into the nearest river. When he calmed down, he dove down for it, found it, and sent it to FL Studio in Belgium for repair, claiming it was their fault. That was the highlight of the day in the FL canteen; he received a voucher for a sound set worth 20 EUR.
