Number 1 hit in December 1939 was Scatterbrain Benny Goodman with Louis Tobin, vocal.

In December 1938 you might have had the chance to experience The Royal Duo!

Nice! Too few classic magazines are fully archived (in downloadable PDF, not just images or some moronic proprietary formats).

Now, if someone were to do the same for Rolling Stone. I’m mostly interested in the 80’s and 90’s issues. There is an old CD-ROM that has them (you can easily find it), but the contents can’t be extracted and it only works on old computers.

I was born in 1959 and this Johnny Horton song was the Billboard #1 chart topper for the year. I've listened to it perhaps over 400 times because when I was a kid at sleepyaway camp in the Catskills of NY they used to wake us up every single morning with this song...crazy as that seems!

Today's music would probably be very different
if lithography hadn't been invented 1796 by Alois Senefelder.

The GAME CHANGER for every Producer and Manager in the entertainment industry....
They called it God's Paste Brush. The M O S T important PLUG-IN ever created.

In 1899 town criers used this plug-in to take their trade to the next level!!
A Billposter, or Flyposter, could use it with any length of stick.
If you're short or tall... you're good to go!

At least when I was still in NYC there were people that would physically post posters around the city (seemingly mostly downtown where I lived off of Bowery, LOL). They all had that type of brush and as well carried around a bucket of oatmeal slime. There were walls plastered with many, many years of bills that if you peeled off an edge there was sometimes almost a half an inch thick of years worth of paper. There were signs everywhere that stated "Post No Bills" but of course were completely ignored.
