You have quite a bit not going right here. Ask for directions to the sister site.

Question: Do they sell Acoustica Mixcraft on Steam somehow?
Yes — Acoustica Mixcraft has been sold on Steam, but it’s not the latest version you’d get straight from Acoustica’s own store. Specifically:

Mixcraft 8 Home Studio is available for purchase on Steam as a standalone product. You can buy it there like a game/software title. Steam Store
    • Steam’s version is an older release (Mixcraft 8) rather than the current Mixcraft 10.6 series being sold directly on Acoustica’s website. Acoustica

If you want the newer Mixcraft (10.x) versions or current pricing and features, buying directly from acoustica.com gives you access to the latest editions and upgrade paths. Acoustica

Question: Why would they sell something so old?
Because it costs them nothing to leave an old version up, and because there’s still a niche that buys it.

    Here’s the real-world breakdown:

    1. Steam takes no effort once a product is published.
As long as the build runs, leaving Mixcraft 8 listed is basically free for Acoustica. No approvals, no maintenance obligation, nothing. Some companies leave much older software on Steam for the same reason.

    2. Steam users buy on impulse if the price is low.
Mixcraft 8 Home Studio is the budget tier. It’s often on sale for very little, and people who don’t want to commit to a full DAW license will grab it just to mess around. That’s guaranteed trickle-in revenue.

    3. Version 8 is the only one they ever put on Steam.
They never updated the Steam listing to Mixcraft 9 or 10, probably because maintaining Steam builds and licensing inside Valve’s ecosystem wasn’t worth it for a niche DAW.

    4. Support burden stays low.
If they added Mixcraft 10 to Steam, they’d have to deal with Steam users expecting automatic updates, refunds, Linux/Wine questions, workshop integrations, Steam Deck compatibility… point is, it multiplies support headaches for very little gain.

    5. Steam customers ≠ typical DAW customers.
Most serious buyers go straight to Acoustica’s site. Steam is more of a casual entry point for hobbyists, and an older, cheaper version fits that audience.
If you’re considering Mixcraft, just skip the Steam version entirely — get Mixcraft 10 from Acoustica directly. The features, performance, stability, and plugin handling are all way better than the Steam edition.

Negative on 1 and 2. iLok are not in that business to chase after 'warez' - but you're missing 3: some companies (Arturia comes to mind) don't let their legit products play nice with their warez'ed products. FYI.

But all clear on the iLok side in my longstanding experience.
