@scguy83 Please merge more than 2/multiple comments into 1, so I don't have to keep doing it for you. Try multiple quoting replies :winker:

Every time you upgrade your operating system to a new version, you need to redo all the tweaking you have done over the time you had it installed. Especially for audio production. This may be different if you successfully use a migration tool like that updated may have done, or how it is on Macs. But if you go for the safer "save and pave" method of installing, like from an ISO on a bootable installer; you have to do it all over again. Invariably, you will always forget some of the less obvious tweaks you have applied along the way; even if you do use some posted checklist or procedure. They are never specific enough to include all of your devices and software configurations that might be unique to only what you use.

The root cause of your problem has actually been skipped over by basically every reply anyway.

Right, see there was a program you could get to destroy/kill windows 10 remove all the bloat etc, and get it to bare bones, but so far
I have not seen a such utility for Windows 11

    oh I see,
then make sure disk encryption is not enabled, perhaps Windows 11 does that by default now, it's a huge performance hit and makes no sense especially when many modern SSDs support hardware-accelerated encryption for those who need it

That could have been a possibility, I may try it again. I saw a complaint on a microsoft forum where people were complaining about how long the processing was taking and bogging down their system that clearly have the specs to run it so apparently it's not just me.

Well it seems you did not spend much time trying to figure out the issue.
Maybe it was so disabled it made to too difficult.
Really weird to have so much lag.

Simply closing most running things might identify what was going on, but a driver issue seems likely

I kept it for like 30-40 mintutes I tried so much and it did nothing. I don't see how my computer would struggle running it.

I was not thinking it is to do with your machine's capabilities

I was thinking something more along the lines of Win11 replacing some driver on install that is causing a problem / conflict.
I don't know how likely that is - but i know that driver problems sometimes cause freezing / delays.

And considering it is an upgrade, maybe it wouldn't mess with your device drivers.. just wondering.

It is simply not optimized and there are tons of bugs and spyware telemetry going on that slows down performance. The actual best time to install 11 is when 12 rolls out, wow, by then performance and drivers should be sorted out. The only real reason to use 11 is midi 2.0 integration between different hardware synths, DAWs and the OS, but almost nothing that supports it is out there yet commercially.

    Watch this video

And then download this tool which walks you through the Windows install. https://github.com/builtbybel/FlyOOBE

I used it a few weeks ago to install Windows 11 on an old usupported laptop. I could not believe how easy it was.

1st mistake was doing any sort of OEM "update"... A new install with a proper optimized LITE install image will get you there much quicker and more efficiently and without OEM garbage getting in the way.

    - do a complete system image of the current setup - just in case there's personal stuff you want to migrate to the new system
    - pave the system clean - use a partition tool to wipe all the storages
    - get a tinyOS or ghostspectre LITE optimized install image
    - install the LITE image
    - use a MAS activation script or KMS tool to activate the system
    - turn OFF updates
    - turn off/remove mickeysoft defender A/V + firewall
    - turn off all access to "ms accounts" in the OS
    - delete EDGE
    - install third party equivalents of the above - i.e. FireFox, non-ms A/V, non-ms Firewall, NetLimiter

When you're done you should have a good solid platform to build on.

Suit yourself. But if you want a garbage free build, what I outlined will give it to you, not much else...
