    Hey everyone,

I recently tried a controller reaction tester to measure my reflexes and noticed some differences between my wired and wireless controllers.

My times seem slightly slower on wireless, but I’m not sure if it’s significant or just perception. Has anyone done a proper comparison?

Also, does controller type, standard vs. high-end gaming, change reaction times noticeably? I want to get the most accurate readings possible and would like tips on setups that reduce variability.

Any advice on testing routines or minimizing lag would be amazing.

    edit:
My bad, realised you were talking about input lag... thought you were talking about something else lol

Obviously, wireless controllers will have a higher latency than wired ones, just because there are extra steps involved in sending the data. The time that it takes to prepare the data and send and receive it will be added to the time that it takes for you to react. It should only be a few ms though, but still it should be noticeable.

(I hate engaging with AI posts, but..)

The TLDR: IF you're buying a decent make (like 8BitDo) and IF you're using the brand's proprietary dongle, then the difference between wired and wireless is negligible (usually less than 1.5-3ms).

IF you're using generic Bluetooth, expect upwards of 12ms of additional latency.
