Suppose you ask a genuine question of, say, Google, about which you really don't know anything and are trying to find out or learn or understand an issue. The AI answer that pops up would seem to answer your question. How do you even know to keep going if this is something you are just starting to ask about? Recent example: I was listening to a violin concerto by Antonio Rosetti on SwissClassic Radio. I asked Google, what are the violin concertos composed by Antonio Rosetti. Answer: Antonio Rosetti wrote no violin concertos. Well, I am listening to one NOW, so obviously the answer is totally wrong. In fact, going over to Amazon there is a CD with 4 of his violin concertos. But if a person not versed in music other than being a listener, or a person asking a question about something brand new, and receives a totally wrong answer, how is the person to >know< that the information received is one huge error. And can conceivably have unfortunate and even serious consequences. THAT seems to me to be the problem....leaving aside the issue of how an awful lot of people are unable to hear the difference between an AI composed work and a human composed work. I think we are headed to a conformist mediocrity that infects a large proportion of the population....the remaining will turn into pariahs. Good Luck to us all.

We held a vote on the use of AI in the forum some time ago.
The result was that the majority voted in favor of using AI.
However, a condition is that the AI response must be clearly marked in a spoiler.

    1. Yes information is harder to find than ever, there is nothing to deny in that, but a forum is a place to exchange ideas and not just clap around AI answers, if i wanted them, i would ask a chatbot. That is my opinion.
    2. Google yes have a very stupid way of removing any strings you dont want in your results. like 15 years ago, a simple "-" in front of the search string you dont wanted in your results was enough, now this doesnt work anyway.
    3. I hate using google, because there is no simple way to turn of the AI answer, like i can with DDG --- insted you need to hack the search url, damn google.
    4. Now back to the forum, why we dont engage again in solving something together? Everybody could share ideas, instead there are threads with more than one AI answers and sometimes careless posted, with even obvious errors. I makes me using the forum less ... (I had not to patrol here anyway, i would use it less.)

Imagine everybody would keep their ideas to themself, no new music, no new yt content, nothing new. At some point ... only AI slop would be around ... Now how are these LVMs trained?

And yes this has already happened on places like stackoverflow and other forums, because people using AI chatbots more.

We need to find a way to use it better and not to become lazy by let me ask a chatbot, but instead use our brains again ... and think.

Who do you trust more: a musician who has been making music for many years, like Jean-Michel Jarre, or AI?
I would say the answer is simple. You benefit from Mr. Jarre's music and firsthand stage experience.

The use of AI is sometimes flawed, and that's why it won't catch on in its current form.
In short, companies aren't buying it because it's flawed. Who actually owns the internet?

Do you have any control over what you click on and use? Yes! So change your usage habits and avoid AI. Will we be able to stop AI? Only partially, because as long as it generates profit, the company owners will continue to unleash it on humanity.

There's often a lack of education, especially regarding how to use AI correctly, what it does, how the results are generated, what damage it causes, etc. I believe that with education and learning, we will get this under control. We need more media literacy.

Furthermore, at some point the rule of law will have to intervene, or want to intervene, to stop or contain this madness.
Simply don't buy their AI music products.

AI technology is very new, and it always takes several decades to correct errors and properly contextualize the history of AI.

Maybe we are being manipulated and it's true purpose is yet to revealed? For example, it could be used to create a digital panopticon that would reward and punish certain behaviours or control resources, and all you would need to implement it is a unique digital identifier, but you would have to keep the masses distracted while you built the infrastructure. You would also need to get rid of physical money and install cameras everywhere, so it wouldn't go entirely unnoticed. And yes, I have read 1984!

It's only an issue if you LET IT BECOME ONE. I pretty much know on here anymore who spews info kiosk trash, who doesn't, and what the crap looks like when pasted into a reply (because these fools are too lazy to make it even look like a real reply).

Thanks @VintageDOC, I read your comments with great interest.

I would say one shouldn't believe anything at all, always remain critical, and think for oneself. The age of complete confusion is in full swing, and the outcome is uncertain. I hope our intelligence will be sufficient to protect ourselves. In cases of doubt, we can simply click away or switch off.

I usually answer my questions about AI like this: How did I search for something before the invention of the internet? Who could I ask? How did I solve my problems without the internet? I have an encyclopedia at home that I can look up, I go to the library and borrow a relevant textbook, or I buy a textbook at a bookstore.

When calling up google (in FF) I get the standard search field with a "AI mode" button to engage the so-called "AI" if one wanted to. I have never given it a 2nd thought but I remember it's there. I never use the stupid shit. I only use the standard search stuff. when I use the standard search, info comes up in a standard fashion. No "AI" b.s..

How do you know the “something new” isn’t crap? Do you go back and perform your own research when “something new” is given to you? Because most people don’t.
