Alhtough STEAM is on my fastest SSD Drive. A last gen M2 running at 2gb per second... Omnisphere 3 is taking age to switch from one library to another.
Even worse, switch from one category of presets (BPM and ARPS) to another (PADS) takes the same exact amount of time.
I have parted my third parties libraries between the Share folder and the User folder but no luck so far.
    Anyone has the same issue?

Not sure why. I have the legit on Mac and crack on windows. No issues with switching. Is your SSD external? If so, what model/enclosure/cable?

Same here! I wonder what may cause it. I've had the legit Omnisphere 2 installed before and everything ran smoothly. When I made the switch to v3, I instantly noticed a massive slow down. Doesn't make a difference whether it's used in a DAW, or sthe standalone version.

O3 takes a bit longer to open for me as well. I get the UI square filled in white for a few seconds then it catches and appears. O2 never did that. No biggie. I figured it will be something fixed in future updates and I've still really enjoyed using it. Analog Lab used to do the same thing.

The lag is a common issue when you use certain Omni 2 libraries with Omni 3.

It's not the opening that is the issue. It's the loading and browsing librairies and categories inside those libraries.

    10 seconds between librairies?

EDIT : Just tested with Omni 3 librairies... same 10-12 seconds lag.

Try removing everything that is 3rd party and legacy. Just start with a fresh Omni 3. Test, then gradually add extra stuff.

When anything cannot be loaded while it's clearly installed, you should check the health of your SSD!

If it's a Samung SSD, you can check it with Samsung Magician [free],
but I recommend Hard Disk Sentinel Pro which works for all manufacturers [shareware...
or free if you know where to look at ;) ]

I once found out that one of my drives is almost dying after getting several file reading errors
and long loading times for games. I ran Hard Disk Sentinel Pro and it showed me a health
of only a couple % and an estimated remaining lifetime of about 7 days.

    Capture-000304.png

On that same day I bought a new SSD and transfered everything with TeraCopy as it shows
all the possible file errors that can appear when reading fails. I lost like 2% of my files from the broken drive
but saved 98% of them and after everything was done, all the files were loading perfectly fast again.

    1. STEAM Database Indexing: Omnisphere's core engine relies on a database that scans and catalogs your entire library (including third-party stuff). If it's corrupted, outdated, or overwhelmed by folder splits, switches between libraries/categories (e.g., BPM/ARPS to PADS) trigger full rescans, causing delays. This explains why category hops feel identical to full library swaps—it's not sample loading but browser refresh.

    2. Third-Party Library Integration: Splitting between Share (official add-ons) and User (custom/third-party) can confuse the index if paths aren't optimized or if there are permission issues.

    3. System Resources: Even with your SSD, low RAM allocation, background processes, or antivirus scanning could bottleneck it. Omnisphere 3 is RAM-hungry for caching.

    Rebuild the STEAM Database:
    • Close Omnisphere and any DAWs.
    • Go to your STEAM folder (likely ~/Library/Application Support/Spectrasonics/STEAM on Mac or C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Local\Spectrasonics\STEAM on Windows).
    • Delete the STEAM.db file (or the entire Database folder if you're bold—back it up first).
    • Relaunch Omnisphere standalone. It’ll prompt a full rescan (this takes 5-15 mins initially but should speed up switches afterward).
    • Test library/category switches immediately after.
