Ngl seeing Spitfire Audio going out of their way to throw down a DMCA to what is essentially a half-broken library is quite impressive considering that SSO just recently got a considerable update to go along with their new Discover release and is still considered to be a better overall option to BBCSO, yet it remains untouched

well thats not entirely true, or rather, only partially true. some other people report that most instruments work, just very few Basson and woodwnds for example have errors. I think its possible to fix it

Below are my guesses and conclusions from what I understood about this release.
there seem to be errors: because Chinese encoding or characters of the reg info when adding it to to registry, not full sample set - lost while archiving?, errors in compression?, downloading errors in archives and maybe more...

    what can we do:
    • first we should collect al the errors we have
    • ask the releaser (he is somewhere here on our forum dont remember his name) to make a new release with corrupted and missing files
    • ask our Chinese friends here what does this (Spitfire Audio7¸ö²å¼þ) mean or
    • check the registry of some official or not Spitfire user from the west for the correct registery lines
    • ...
    @jiujiuguizhen was it you or @audiozhao ?

There are problems with the zip files. Some of the bassoons and clarinet files are missing due to the damaged zip files. All in all most of them are fine. Still worth the download. :)

I did notice that my BBC no longer works after installing VSL. Anyone else have this issue?

Correct it is broken. I won't use or attempt to use a broken release since I already have many spitfire libraries that do work properly. Messaging the supplier that the archive corruption was not fixed as they suggested that it was, did nothing - no response. The only way to "fix" it is by a someone else doing a proper release.

It's too big to easily release this mastadon lib again and downloading all of it again would be impractical.
Just several corrupted files needed; maybe anyone who has the official thing could share. They don’t need to be from the same person

sorry to ask just in case, did anybody try the Winrar recovering damaged files function?

If there were assurances that the release was proper it wouldn't be a problem really. There's no reason to waste time with a broke down pile like that thing... At this point there's a lot of folks, after this fiasco, that are a bit more wary of large DL's like that and won't be fooled a second time.

humongous file sizes ARE spitfire's antipiracy measure. after all, nobody would bother cracking something this big that is this mediocre.
if people are saying SSO is BETTER than BBC, then I don't want BBC.

Anyone got this working in Ableton Live? - If so, where did you place the patch file? This varies from DAW to DAW, it seems.

NanaZip will let you unpack the good files and report the errors without stopping. I had the known errors regarding some clarinet and basoon samples, but it still unpacked. It also turned our that the "broken files" still unpacked fine.

I wouldn't say it's "better" or worse even, but SSO is significantly smaller (by almost half) in size. Would have been nice to have both to compare, but oh well...

SSO is the jack-of-all-trades for a full orchestral library, not entirely hybrid like Audio Imperia stuff nor as classical as BBC, 5 sets of mics, as dry as a symphonic library can get, brass is kinda mid but usable, but has one of the most impressive and beautiful Percussion library I've ever heard.

BBC SO is designed for classical orchestral composing, much more wet and expressive modulation, has so many mic positions for mixing that it will eat your RAM alive if not tuned correctly, a pretty decent UI but not as customizable as SSO (especially with BRSO if you use FL and love key-switching), and sounds like you're in the actual hall itself even with out-of-the-box configurations.

If you want to be flexible, pick SSO, if you do pure classical stuff, pick BBC. Hybrid/modern/bombastic sounds are better with Audio Imperia or Heavyocity stuff.

We are lucky to have SSO available to try. I found that everything was "mid" about it, even the percussion. Spitfire did percussion much better before, it's "Percussion Redux" by Joby Burgess sounds a LOT better than the one they bundled with SSO. At this point it's old but gold, as it's a lot of their old libraries, like the old albions.

That "Discover" version of SSO is not the same as BBC SO (which was only 200mbs worth of samples btw), it's just a sales pitch from Spitfire that lacks the actual usability and productivity that BBC Discover provided 4 years ago.

They pretty much stripped it down to the bones, even with a good sample quality, it still feels much more lackluster comparing to the real thing with actual mics.

Hey peeps, did you notice that BBC library is missing from the russian tracker?
First time I see that and I could swear it was there... I downloaded the library and do have other 'active' sources but I just wonder why would they take it off?
