everybody can make signature sound sample packs now.

setup gumroad or similar and create sound packs and call them signature sound packs.

    Thats what i assume.

The guy is either incredibly well-marketed, which implies he's a money-maker, or he's incredibly hard-working and has a real knack for marketing—see the attached image.

Success these days isn't synonymous with musical talent, quality, or something genuinely new. It's all about the click count!

I'm afraid he's symptom of the online phenomenon. You can quite easily call yourself God, make a website and write phony reviews claiming that you are indeed God and exceptional value, at that.

And there are the credulous masses who will accept that as 'probably true'. Enough so that it still makes sense to pretend to be God.

I watched the corruption of hiphop and rap .. a clever and insidious thematic maneuver that created a fiction that fed upon youthful fears and self loathing. A shift from poems about real life to self-referential prose that spoke to an imagined culture of spiritless greed. It was powerful enough to infect the minds of it's audience and create a feedback loop of nonsense. And you can all see the result of that through myriad, vacuous vessels spouting the same tripe with a slightly different hihat pattern behind it ad-nauseum.

In short, if you lack the critical faculties to see above the tideline of this sea of bullshit, then watch out.

Most people don't want to hear anything intelligent; otherwise, they'd have to think and change things.
They just go with the flow. I think 5% of the population is intelligent enough to look for and listen to something different.

"Thinking is permitted to all people, but many are spared the effort."

Lmaoo I'm sorry but it's genuinely funny how bunch of people online bash a dude they prolly haven't spend a single min talking to as if he is the devil himself. I don't listen to olly but dude is a really talented dude. I remember listening his bigroom songs back in SoundCloud days and they were honestly some of the best in the genre. Dunno what genre he specialize in now but why hate on the guy? He isn't claiming to be God? He makes genuinely nice music for my taste (prolly not all of them but I have a couple on my phone). This whole "omg industry is dying and any talent who is selling products or items that don't work well with what I want or need is garbage and mediocre is a sad state to see. There's music out there for anyone and everyone. That's what makes music a universal language.

You're absolutely right. I just think his stuff is a bit shit, thats clearly my problem. Carry on :)

Though you say we should be actually talking to Olly "a dude they prolly haven't spend a single min talking to" but I fail to see how that would help. And apparently you like his work and have listened to it but have not listened to it: "I remember listening his bigroom songs back in SoundCloud days" .. "I don't listen to olly but dude is a really talented dude." - I think you might be one of the credulous.

Plus "omg industry is dying and any talent who is selling products or items that don't work well with what I want or need is garbage and mediocre is a sad state to see" is a solid straw man argument. Nobody has said that here as far as I can see. What I did say was that theres a mire of shite being touted as stuff that you need right now and theres plenty of suckers.

How many psy or hard trance kicks does a guy need?

Wow. You don’t know Olly James I feel sorry for you. Anyone spreading dirty innuendos about this genius nugget is simply jealous of his success and the endless quality of samples he produces

he is putting out tiny sample packs as fast as the APU software developer puts out update versions. At least they can take DJ ONETRUTH off the back of the milk cartons now.

some guy named Dave Robertson according to credits on her releases. She could have a part in it. Maybe she even makes the majority of the track and he just finalizes mix or arrangement etc. Or she could do nothing except say "yes i love that sound, can you add a pad layer here too". Which is honestly still producing in a sense. Sometimes the hardest part of techno is arrangement and proper sound selection. Just because you are not in the drivers seat doesnt necessarily mean you don't have a large part in bringing the track to life.

Well I know I'm no expert on Olly James, but I thought this was the elephant in the room!

well if there is an elephant in the room you better check the structural design to verify maximum weight capacity of the floors. The only famous Ollie I know know of is Oliver Hardy, from the Laurel and Hardy comedy team.
