I finally have OsTIrus working great and now there is a new update with what appears to be a lot of bug fixes and stuff so I think I should update, but I'm worried it will screw up things I have working now (the proper Virus Ti skin especially). Do I uninstall first and then install the update as new or what is the easiest and most painless way to update this, in steps if you please :dunno:

    Thanks friends!:)

No one's forcing you to update. Aswell as backing up your current version in case you gotta roll back.

So, if you feel for it, try it. No need to overwrite it immediately.

As for myself, I have no problems with the new updates and my saved projects, but not everyone is 'lucky' so taking my word for it is not the same as a "yes, it is safe" as long it's still in a Beta phase.

You can simply overwrite the file "OsTIrus.vst3" using copy and paste:

    OsTIrus.vst3

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\OsTIrus.vst3

Your settings have already been saved with the DAW.

As @PulseWave says, the plugin folders are in those locations.

Only the "OsTIrus.vst3" & "OsTIrusFX.vst3" folders need be replaced.

The skins, ROMs,etc SHOULD be in your user Documents\The Usual Suspects\OsTirus| folder, safe from meddling.

You can safely update Ostirus by overwriting the VST3 with the newer version, everything else should be saved in your document folder and you can always have an extra copy of the previous version to roll back to if you have any update issues, you won’t lose any progress saved in your workstation

Note that the V2 versions have a completely new UI and skinning system. The plugins will attempt to convert old format skins into the new format, but the conversion may not be perfect, depending on the skin, so you may find a particular skin you like gives problems with the new version, ranging from the UI behaving weird, bits not working, all the way up to not even loading at all.

If so, you may have to revert to the default skin, or an updated compatible one for V2 and ask the original skin author to update their skin properly for V2.x. Some of them might not get updated at all, or you can fix them yourself if necessary and if you want to get into the skinning stuff.

Rom(s), Skins, Sounds etc. are now in new location:

    C :\ Users \ [YourUserName] \ Document s\ The Usual Suspects \
Then select the correct [Folder]: [NodalRed2x, Osirus, OsTIrus, Vavra, Xenia]

    **1.4.0 (2024/11/18):**

    - [Imp] Patch Manager now stores its database in the user documents folder, next to skins and roms:

    c:\Users\\Documents\The Usual Suspects\\patchmanager (Win)

    ~/Documents/The Usual Suspects//patchmanager (Mac)

    XDG_DATA_HOME/The Usual Suspects//patchmanager
    or
    ~/.local/share/The Usual Suspects//patchmanager (Linux)

Any existing database in the old location is automatically migrated to the new one.
    - [Imp] Config file location has been changed and is now located in a subfolder "config" next to the other folders. Existing configurations in legacy locations are migrated automatically.
