We spoke to Dan from Newfangled Audio about their latest innovation, the AL Audio SDK. This cutting-edge tool is designed to integrate into any plugin, enabling AI-driven control via a chatbot interface. Dan was keen to state the importance of maintaining human involvement in the creative process, using AI to tackle the mundane aspects rather than the creative ones.

The AL SDK introduces a novel approach where you can request sounds by simply describing them, and AI steps in to adjust the parameters on the synth or plugin. Though it runs server-side, Newfangled Audio prioritizes quality over speed, aiming to support music teaching by generating educational sound creation instructions across a variety of supported plug-ins. Developers can integrate AL Audio SDK by providing descriptions of all the plug-ins controls so that they can be queried and described using natural language prompts.

While not yet released, Newfangled Audio is developing AL Audio for more extensive use, hinting at potential enhancements like model training on preset banks. This initiative reflects a broader move towards engaging and rewarding learning experiences in music technology.

This runs on the server side and is invasive, you're needing to be online mandatory. Data mining is part of the process and at least for me it's a bridge too far.

 

They're just doing everything that's technically possible, regardless of the consequences.
