I've been using S1 professionally since v3 . Now i'm on v6.5.0.96 and i'm skeptical about upgrading , since i have lots of ongoing client projects. I didnt even upgrade to win11 because of this , still on 10 .
Anyone who has been using S1 v7 extensively , can you please share your experience regarding its stability , performance and optimization ? It'll help a fellow user out .
    Thanks In Advance

I've been a Studio One user since version 2. I recently purchased the version update function for version 7 and am very satisfied with it. Studio One updates automatically, and it's very quick and easy. So you don't even need to go to their website anymore. It runs smoothly, without crashes, and has the same excellent workflow as always.

i love studio one 7 but im not really sure how different it is from 6.5 or maybe i dont remember.
what i would do is install s7 from the sister site, the r2r version is great, try it for a week or with only 1 client and see how it feels. cheers

Studio One v7 should have been v6.6 at best and works fine. There was nothing of note added to v7 over v6, so upgrade with confidence.

Not really a necessary update if you can already do everything you need to do. I own 6.5 and "borrowed" 7 for the past year. Not worth the upgrade price unless you get a deal during Black Friday in my opinion. There are some really cool upgrades, and if you need a scene launcher, then go for it, I prefer Bitwig for that task. As things go these days I produce and do sound design in BitWig and I mix/master in Studio One...either version, though I prefer my legit copy over the "borrowed" V7. A little comfort you know?

I noticed better performance with 7 when using Superior Drummer 3 at 96khz, no pops clicks with heavy projects. Otherwise everything else is the same as 6.6. I’m on Mac Os Intel. Now.. I can’t stand the single waveform look of stereo tracks in small view! If you use many mono tracks, you should know this. I’m creating new projects in Nuendo because of this and see how it goes

Save your money. It’s a marginal update, and you are obviously not missing anything since you’re working perfectly with all your ongoing projects. Wait for something substantial, I should have stayed with 5.5 really until 8 or 9 maybe

This portion of the question would be the reason to not upgrade in a way where your v6 becomes unusable. Migrate what you can to a new install as you start new projects with the new version. If you can stick 7 on the same machine without getting rid of 6, that is your best option. You shouldn't take risks and chances with other peoples projects.

I think studio one should've focused mostly on the mixing side of things. Making that workflow better with more mixing related features and optimization. They used to be all that. That's the main reason i went with Studio One. But they swayed from that path. Now they focus on the producers community more.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy to make money from the competition. As you know, PreSonus also has hardware, speakers, USB audio interfaces, mixers, etc., to stay in the market. I've decided not to update after version 7 because I don't need anything new. I hope they deliver a bug-free version until version 7 reaches its end of life. With each update, Studio One just keeps getting bigger.

Exactly, bigger with stuff they don't need . They could've been way bigger if they focused on the mixing side of things and making it better
