I’ve seen similar issues with low rev numbers despite decent play counts. What helped me was checking if all tracks were eligible and correctly tagged. Also, SoundCloud uses its own matching process to track plays for monetization, which isn’t always accurate. I was experimenting with an app monetization SDK for a separate project, and it made me think how backend tracking tools really affect final payouts more than people think.

Even though its not run by original guys cos it was losing dosh for years, but they seemed decent and intent on providing a free service, the layout is brill and private links are a must for sending to my team,( a team is the people you pay to get your music on the dancefloor etc, you need a good team).

It hasn't changed the layout, that alone says a lot, i'd rather not pay for distribution when you could, given the means, do it your self, where as in 90's early 00's you needed a physical distributor, cd's vinyl etc.

I reckon Soundcloud are the best of the bunch und wouldn't touch dat bistro kid wiv a ten foot barge pole innit, you pays your money and you take your choice.

 

i started a Soundcloud premium account,i am not in a rush, uploaded a simple track to test how the sound is and had more than 160 plays in under 2 hours.

maybe i am going for the monetization and upload a few remastered tracks.

 

Anything that means musicians get more than they are and have been getting is a good thing.
