but i was talking about what one needs - you are talking about what could be extremly useful.

I cannot be bothered seeing if someone has already said this but it needs to be said.

Those of you who still use a lot of VST2 plugins, do not upgrade to this version because it only supports VST3.

You can of course keep 14 and version 15 will open the project (minus VST2 plugins).
It's probably also worth mentioning it doesn't error out on VST2 plugins, it simply won't even try to load them.

 

Just enable that in VST plugin manager.
I have no problem with VST2 at all.

Granted you have a point. No you don't need more than the bare essentials. But hey, the upgrade doesn't cost that much especially if you get it on discount and more importantly, I still need a version that works on a newer OS even if I'm almost never on the newest (macOS) and I use that same computer for other things as well so I need to access the internet on it.

That being said, life is difficult enough as it is, if I can do things quicker just by upgrading, which helps keep the software alive at the same time, I don't see what the problem is. Where I live, the iPhones that are always sold out are the most expensive, even though the only difference is the SSD capacity and we're talking amounts that NONE of those people have any need for (no buying movies from iTunes to watch on flights, etc) and even though they can't actually show off that they have the more expensive one since they look the same. It's just shallow, superficial satisfaction for *only* $1000 MORE than the cheaper iPhone. I don't engage in such bullshit, but I'll happily pay Steinberg the reasonable price of $50/60/100 once every one or even two years (it's feasible if you time it correctly) to get features I find useful and a version that is compatible with what will become the penultimate OS in the future.

i use 14.20, updated to 14.40 big mistake
14.20 runs perfect. no need to update to 15 what so ever, say what you will, cubase has upped their game, but still wants money each year
if ur lucky to find a functional version like 14.20.... stick with it, always make copies before updating!!

Updating Cubase.... ALWAYS cause some trouble, its unbelievable how bad they are at updates... but best daw and best looking one out there!

Yes, quite a few – someone has to pay Steinberg's salaries, after all.

 

My 14.0.40 isn't broken so who knows, perhaps the issue is specific to their system.

 

Can anybody please help me , i have installed cubase 15 using V.R team , it has some activation manager unlocker , i ran it my cubase runs perfectly but activation manager doesn't work like it says sign in

Hello! Until now, all R2R cubase ( c12, c13, c14 ) worked fine (win11) but now this ( c15 ) one doesn't start for some reason. (according to the task manager, it is running in the background processes..) How can I fix it?

=> Use google to download latest one from Microsoft.

Install TEAM R2R Network Block Runtime.
=> Test runtime installation by included tool.
=> Always use the latest version.

Install TEAM R2R Steinberg Silk Emulator:
TEAM.R2R.Steinberg.Silk.Emulator.v*.*.*-R2R
=> Test emulator installation by included tool.
=> Always use the latest one.

Restart computer after the change!

I was learning Cubase as I was going to migrate from Reaper after seeing Guy Mitchelmore using it for his Orchestral stuff. I was very disappointed by the Expression map articulation system however which he doesn't use. It is so clunky despite the new features. I was changing as well due to all the new VSL stuff. I am now learning Studio one. It is Brilliant but especially with VSL libraries. The integration is unbelievable. VSL sends the articulation information back to S1 which is immediately mapped even with your hand rolled presets. It doesn't need any dedicated maps. I've Pretty well got the whole orchestra covered now thanks to the sister site.I had no Idea about any of this until very recently which is why I am passing this on to any other orchestral types and not to start a war. Obviously I am not partisan about Daws!

 

Why are you even messing with A4A? It sucks. If your audio interface is decent enough it will have it's own proper ASIO drivers which should always work better than A4A...
