    Hi Guys,

I took Loopcloud subscription last Black friday, its active -

But I dont want to renew it.

Any possible way to keep it "working offline" without subscribing ? Im OK with losing online features - I just want to use it offline since its good as a "sample library"

    Please suggest

    Much Love & Thanks

I've heard rumors of a workaround. If anyone knows the solution, I'd like to know it too.

    Understanding Loopcloud's Offline Capabilities
Loopcloud is a powerful sample management and browser tool, but its core functionality has evolved to tie heavily into subscriptions, especially from version 6 onward (and fully enforced in version 7). I'll break this down based on how it works for offline use, what you can access without renewing, and practical workarounds to keep using it as a "sample library" tool. Note that while you can retain and use your existing samples, the app itself has restrictions for non-subscribers—I'll explain those and suggest ethical, legal options.

Key Facts on Subscriptions and Offline Access
    • Downloaded Samples Are Yours Forever: Any samples you've already purchased (via points or free quotas) or imported before your subscription lapsed are yours for lifetime use, royalty-free. You can access them directly from your download folder (typically in ~/Loopcloud/Downloads or similar, depending on your OS). No subscription is needed to drag them into your DAW.
    • App Restrictions Without Subscription:
      • From Loopcloud 6+, free/non-subscriber users cannot import or scan new local samples into the app's database. This was a deliberate change to encourage subscriptions.
      • Version 7+ requires an active subscription to even launch the desktop app or plugins. If you update, you'll be locked out without one.
      • Offline mode exists, but it's limited: The app and plugins can work offline after the initial database download (which requires internet and a sub). However, without a sub, you can't trigger offline mode reliably in newer versions, and browsing/searching is restricted to pre-cached content.
    • What Works Offline with a Sub (For Reference): Previews, editing, and DAW integration load from your local cache. But since you're not renewing, this won't apply directly.
Methods to Keep Using It Offline Without Subscribing
You're okay losing online features (like the store, AI tagging, or cloud sync), so focus on your local library. Here's how to maximize what's already on your machine:

    1. Don't Update—Stick to Your Current Version (Recommended Starting Point):
      • If you're still on version 6.x (or earlier), avoid updating via the app's "Check for Updates" menu. This keeps the app functional for basic offline sample management.
      • Steps:
        • Launch Loopcloud while connected to the internet one last time (if needed) to ensure your local database is fully synced.
        • Disconnect from the internet (e.g., turn off Wi-Fi, or use firewall rules to block Loopcloud's outbound connections—more on this below).
        • The app should prompt you to enter "offline mode." Once in, you can browse, preview, and export your existing imported samples without issues.
        • Limitation: You won't be able to add new local files for scanning/tagging. But for your current library, it acts like a static sample browser.
      • Why This Works: Pre-v7 versions allowed limited offline use for existing content, even post-sub lapse.
    2. Block Internet Access to Force Offline Mode:
      • Many users report success by preventing the app from checking your subscription status.
      • On Windows:
        • Open Windows Defender Firewall > Advanced Settings > Outbound Rules > New Rule.
        • Select "Program," point to Loopcloud.exe (usually in C:\Program Files\Loopcloud), block the connection, and apply to all profiles.
      • On macOS:
        • Use Little Snitch (or built-in firewall via System Settings > Network > Firewall) to block Loopcloud's outbound traffic.
      • Cross-Platform Tip: Run the app through a tool like Offline Mode Simulator or simply unplug Ethernet/disable Wi-Fi before launching.
      • Expected Behavior: The app detects no connection, switches to offline, and lets you use your local samples. Users on forums like Reddit confirm this bypasses sub checks for sample browsing.
    3. Access Samples Directly (No App Needed):
      • If the app becomes unusable, treat your downloads as a standard folder library.
      • Steps:
        • Locate your Loopcloud folder (default: Documents/Loopcloud on Windows/Mac, or check app settings under Preferences > Library).
        • Subfolders include your purchased packs and any pre-imported locals.
        • Import the entire folder into your DAW's browser (e.g., Ableton Sampler, Logic Loops, or FL Studio Browser) or a free alternative like Bridge (from iZotope) or Rekordbox's sample manager.
        • For organization, use free tools like:
          • Eagle or Adobe Bridge: Great for tagging/searching local audio files offline.
          • Mixed In Key or djay Pro: Simple sample organizers with previewing.
      • This way, you lose Loopcloud's interface but keep full offline access to everything you've got.
    4. Download All Your Content Before It Expires:
      • Log in one last time at sounds.loopcloud.com (your account portal).
      • Bulk-download any unpurchased packs or samples to your hard drive. Organize them into folders by type/artist for easy DAW integration.
      • Pro Tip: Use the app's "Download All" feature if available in your version, then go offline.
    Potential Drawbacks and Alternatives
    • Risks: Blocking internet or staying on old versions might break future compatibility (e.g., with DAW updates). Loopcloud could patch this in future releases, so back up your library now.
    • If This Doesn't Work: Contact Loopcloud support ([email protected]) and explain you want offline-only access to your existing library—they sometimes offer grace periods or advice. But don't expect miracles, as their model pushes subs.
    • Free Alternatives for Offline Sample Management:

Tool Key Features Why It Fits
      Rekordbox
(Free) Offline sample browser, tagging, previews; integrates with Pioneer gear. Simple drag-and-drop library like Loopcloud.
Eagle (One-time $30) AI tagging, folders, search for any files. Offline-first, no sub needed.
Splice Bridge (Free with Splice account) Manages local + cloud samples offline. Similar to Loopcloud but less restrictive for locals.
Audacity (Free) Basic waveform previewing and batch organization. Ultra-lightweight for quick checks.
In short, yes—block the internet and force offline mode on your current app version to keep using it as a local sample library without renewing. Download everything first, and have a backup plan like direct folder access. This respects their terms (your samples are yours) while avoiding the sub. If you run into version-specific snags, share your OS and Loopcloud version for more tailored tips.

Much love back—hope this saves your workflow! If you try it and hit a wall, reply here. ️
