How would I go about updating the STEAM folder with the Omnisphere 3 library while retaining my existing third party libraries, Keyscape, Trilian, etc.? Is it possible to go back to 2 or is it not compatible? Or can I have both the libraries from Omnisphere 2 and 3 simultaneously temporarily? If it’s a case where the library replaces the old one, does it not give extra space because of how they updated it to fit the new samples while retaining the size of the Omnisphere 2 factory library?

Waiting for Mac version but I’m wondering if after everything is done the steam folder won’t be bigger than it already is and I can simply replace the old backup copy with the new backup I make once installation is complete? Obviously my older hard drive won’t fit another 60 gigabytes but if the factory library is replaced with the updated one I got without any additional space I can just replace everything once the Mac version finally comes since I won’t need Omnisphere 2 anymore?

the Mac version is installed directly over the old Steam folder. You probably just want to backup or move your old user content out of the way. Or backup the whole thing. For 3rd party Omnisphere, pretty much everything should be in /STEAM/Omnisphere/Soundsources and /STEAM/Omnisphere/Settings Library.

The R2R version is compatible with all Omnisphere 2 Factory Libraies & Extensions. Also Keyscape & Trillion according to their post/notes.

    On Windows (11/22H2), I
    1. uninstalled version 2
    2. checked for stragglers
    3. installed the library provided by Hidera using the installer in the Windows folder
    4. Ran the Windows Omnisphere 3 installer
    5. Ran the keygen
    6. Opened Omnisphere standalone & clicked "Request Authorization"
    7. From the web browser I copied the string after &ch=
    8. Pasted the string to keygan in Challenge Code field
    9. Clicked Generate, selected & copied response code
    10. Pasted response code to Omnisphere, closed & reopened
Frome there, just select a category in Omnisphere & click Refresh next to the Play button at the bottom left.
    • The older libraries are now located under Legacy.
    • The Bob Moog library is located under Benefit Libraries
I only have the Core & Bob Moog libraries installed. Everything is there & working along with the newer versions 3 library. STEAM folder is 59.1GB in total.

I plan on doing that, I just want to know if the Omnisphere 3 library will fit over the library for 2 like overwriting the same file with an updated version except it applies to everything only spectrasonics since the user content won’t be affected? I have a backup already, I just need to make sure everything can go well so I can delete the backup and replace it with the new one

That's what I mean by to move out of the way, if you do not trust the installer to not actually overwrite files that it shouldn't. If you have Trilian, for example; also installed. Omnisphere 3 should not even touch those files. It should just install the new files and leave those alone.
It has already been said that those directories will not be overwritten, as they shouldn't be. But if you are nervous about it, just move them out of the way temporarily and then put them back. It's a Mac and the same disk. So there is nothing to worry about just moving the files, and if you move them out of the way to the same physical volume, moving them in and out of the larger Steam folder will take seconds.

If you really wanted to see how much content is actually being replaced over old Omnisphere content, you would put the Steam library in place manually first. That way MacOS would show you all the files that will be replaced, merged, or skipped. Then run the installer for the program.
As long as you know what you are going with symlinks, it's easy. Where people get screwed up sometimes, is trying to use the official installer to place Steam on an additional external drive. You are better off just doing the whole thing from the installer and then moving it. No problem though, if Steam is already there on the external.

I used the installer for the Omnisphere 3 library. It asked where my STEAM folder (Omni 2) was, I pointed to it. It installed but also the Omnisphere plugins. I installed R2R over that. The result? Everything works perfect including ALL 3rd party presets packs, Trillian, Keyscape, Extensions etc. Easy peasy.

I just drag and dropped it over the omnisphere 2 steam folder. Everything works as it should all the expansions all the third party presets. I made sure to check all of them loading multiple presets on all factory, expansions, and 3rd party presets everything works great. I installed the standalone like r2r said and ran that first I was getting a x64 dll issue but I forgot to run the new r2r network block runtime and that fixed it. Then it opened immediately I put the serial in and reopened it and went through all the presets I even checked keyscape , trillian and all of the new presets work aswell. Then i opened it in studio one v7 again everything works perfectly.

After testing, the old soundsources are located in core library folder, the new soundsources of v3 including v2 are in core soundsources folder so all the soundsources from both versions can co-exist, but O3 does not need or use any of the old soundsources so you would just waste your storage space and maybe cause errors. I've copied the v3 files and pasted them directly over the previously installed v2, keyscape, trillian, moog tribute and sonic extensions with 100s of third-party libraries, my custom presets and custom imported soundsources, then deleted the old v2 soundsources from core library folder. After installing the latest R2R release, refreshing my patches, soundsources and parts, everything spectrasonics is working fine including all my third-party libraries, my custom presets and custom soundsources. Also, the old v2 sounds are located under legacy so nothing to lose as I see.
