Is there any such plugin that can detect a root note/s (either by MIDI) or audio and present the harmonic partials, in various waveforms (or pitch-shifted versions of the input wave).

And to be able to adjust the levels of the partials?

Maybe I'm guessing spectral shifting?

Not a fixed EQ but one which can detect a root note, then offer frequency bands based on the note harmonic partials.

 

I’m not sure if there’s a tool that can automatically do that in the way you’re describing, but with some ear training and a bit of knowledge, you could achieve it using any good digital EQ, or perhaps one of those peculiar ones, like Scaler EQ, apQualizr2, etc.

I'm currently exploring the possibility of creating my own spectral frequency shifter, but my approach is similar to the Carp Audio Body Shifter (but it doesn't track the specified note). The EQs suggested above harmonically align the sound around the selected note. Or maybe you need Surf EQ? It tracks the pitch of the note and follows it, like Autotune EQ. But in my opinion, all of them work poorly.

analyzing and editing actual partials (as asked for by the OP) is hard to do in realtime, in the past this kind of resynthesis were only available in editor type of apps.

while it would be possible to provide a mixed NRT/RT solution (in the same manner like in the melodyne plug-in) also for SDIF matrix-type streams, i would not be aware of one.

and somehow i think the OP would be fine with an EQ. ;)

i dont think there is a filter like that (there are instruments which does this though), but you might want to try one of those plug-ins which let you create macro controllers for other plug-ins´ parameters, then you can do it with any digital EQ with many filters.

you would create a preset for the filter plug-in with e.g. a minor chord scale across 3 octaves, and then you can control all frequencies at onces by moving only one slider in the controller plug-in.

If you are talking about pitch shifting, that seems to me to be simply transposition, so whatever fundamental you have in the original will have the same function when pitch shifted. If, on the other hand, you are talking about spectral shifting, that seems to me to be frequency shifting which doesn't preserve the harmonic content above a fundamental....it can generate some excellent inharmonic sounds. Here a problem might be to pitch shift (transpose) that inharmonic (frequency shifted) sound so that the lowest frequency returns to the origin prior to the shift, but is now the lowest of the inharmonic sound generated by that shift...i.e. you are making an inharmonic "harmonization" of your original fundamental pitch (or whichever pitch you focus on inside the original sound). As far as I know there is no plug-in that does this (I WISH!!), you have to write your own math:

X = frequency shift; basic pitch (the one you are focussed on) = BP, SPHz (the frequency of shifted pitch) = the frequency of BP minus or plus X; convert X to an interval = Xpitch (it will be some semi-tone and a fraction) and transpose SPHz back to the original BP by the Xpitch interval value. You will then have the inharmonic spectrum generated by the overall frequency shift now "harmonizing" the original pitch BP you focussed on - which can be any pitch in the chord, i.e. the fundamental or the perfect fifth or whatever.
Depending on the host program and software you use, this can work cleanly or noisily (been there, done that!)

 

unsure what you require but there are all sorts of plugins that analyze audio & turn it into partials & then can be used for additive synthesis. Essentially spectral additive resynthesis does this.

To detect the fundamental is pretty straightforward, you need a common spectrum analyzer, the fundamental has the highest peak, then you compare with frequency scale to get the note.
BTW I think DMG has something that gives you the note on graph, but no MIDI.

To change single partials (amplitude? freq.domain?), I don't know. There are things like bode shifters, Reason Europa has a spectral filter, but I don't think they fulfill your request.

You can achieve this with a bit of effort using any EQ that features a piano roll (or similar control). ScalerEQ can handle this task, even more easily, but its sound quality is somewhat poor.

I believe ScalerEQ's poor sound quality stems mainly from the fact that this kind of detailed harmonic manipulation is often a fundamentally flawed approach. Saturation plugins have become popular because they essentially do the same thing, but they are simpler and designed without super-detailed control (like partial/harmonic selection, etc.). This simplicity gives them a higher chance of yielding a better result, especially with a little bit of luck. Saturation plugins that do let the user select which harmonic to boost (like Hornet HarmonicPro) are also less popular due to the low chance of getting a good result when you have too much control on stuff. More controls rarely equals more control.
