Crates by WhoSampled Is Closing the Shop on Oct 31st

    Hey everyone!

    Just received an email from Crates by WhoSampled that they are closing their store on October 31 after 3 operational years.

    The most important thing is that they are offering a 50% promo code "CRATES50" on any purchase for the final week. Thought I'd let sample pack collectors and music producers know in case you weren’t already aware. Anyone grabbed anything good from their catalog recently? I had my eye on a few drum kits and sample packs. If anyone has extra details about this, please share here.

    TL;DR: Crates shuts down on Oct 31 2025. If you want to buy something, use code CRATES50

    Good god... I just read their terms... absofuckinglutely nuts to agree that. Buy the samples... then royalty payouts for unknown samples if your track starts earning? Which would also have nothing to do with them.... who in their right mind would buy anything from them?

    I bet those terms meant they never sold shit for sample packs, hence closing up shop hah.

    This sort of thing has always been puzzling to me. It seems like such a headache. So what do i tell my publisher when submitting? "Yah heres this song, here are the splits, but oh yah, btw, if this song gets over a million streams we're going to have to break this company off."

    So weird. Does anybody here actually use packs like this? I see similar pop up on sister site fairly often.

    Curious to see how they will handle sample clearance and royalty collecting now if they are going under.
