I'm running Kontakt 8.7.1 from the sister site on an M4 Max MacBook Pro. I'm using a 4TB blade external SSD for my immediate Kontakt Library, which is working fine in the Latest Bitwig 6 and Reaper. If I install libraries from the sister site using the NICNT file provided in the package, they appear in my library (Classic and Default View) without issue.
From 5.xxx through 6, 7 to early V8, I was able to make NICNT files, and they would appear in my Library. I haven't been able to make this work for some time.

I have a 2nd Kontact Library running on an M7 Nuc with Win 11 and an 8TB SSD installed, which I use via Audiogridder for Windows programs (although I hardly use it because the M4 Max is so powerful). At one stage, I used to create difficult libraries on the Windows box, and they would work on the Mac.
I have made lots of custom libraries on both Windows and Mac and done some scripting (not an expert by any means), so I know enough to be dangerous

Here are my Questions:
1: Has anyone had any luck creating NICNT files that work and show up in the latest versions of Kontakt 8 for Mac?
2: When I add a library folder using the Cog in the Default view, it just shows a folder with no picture. How do I get an Icon wallpaper and not just a Folder?

If anyone has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

The NI site has a lot of answers. Here is #2 sort of - You can create your own too as long as the folder layout and image names are correct. As for #1 I seriously doubt NI will be of much use though.

Thanks, Mate, that's Gold, That Worked .. Just gotta move a few PNG's around Not sure if its the wallpaper or not. I'll dig deeper.. But it rebuilt all the folders so many thanks

Yeah, Lots of anomalies with KLU that I have to sort out. Thanks, I haven't used it for a while.

yes, i get them installed using KLU with no issues. Make sure there are no strange characters in the path. A lot of libraries from sister site will unzip like "Zero_G_Elements_Kepler_2", just change the folder name to "Zero G Elements Kepler 2". Weirdly, i have had some libraries install no problem even with the extra characters, but i've found it usually does not work, so its best to just fix it.

 

How does Add Library for MacOS v4 work with Kontakt 8? If you do not have a corresponding .nicnt file for the library it will just skip it. But for bulk adding it is very fast.

 

It works great! it missed a couple out of 100 or so, but i just remade the nicnt or had KLU install those.
