Those .mid files ARE firmware, this is the case for another of the plugins from the usual suspects, plus these files can be used to store patches I believe.

I have a old hp z600 with two xeon x5672 at 3.20ghz
I use it most of the time for recording, because I still make music with hardware samplers and synths sequenced with my atari 1040ste and cubase 3.

 

They are Bin files available from the Roland website (Google search Roland JP8000 Roms)
Sounds are Bundled on the "Sister Site JP8000 & Stuff"... Links are strictly not allowed on Audiosex.
CPU Usage is fine for the Alpha on my Macbook M4Max

I also have big hope, that we get back better sounding music.
When i sit in my car and listen to modern EDM with lifeless Synths, i cannot stand the sound anymore.

8000 is working fine

 

This is not the place to discuss the development. Please do it on the Discord, and please read the info/pins posted there to understand what this is, what is and isn't released/working yet etc. All the info you need is there, you just need to read it.

 

I saw JP8000 in my night dreams once. It was fantastic. How about it in real life? What unique features has it got? It has Vocal In. How can it be used? Is a vocoder inside?

 

it's not only about sound because you can already get quite close i think; it's also about the workflow, arrangement, etc. etc. IMHO
