    Retro sound. Modern features.
Step into the golden era of analog synthesis with Proxima, a meticulously crafted plug-in that brings the iconic warmth and character of a vintage analog synthesizer to your DAW. Powered by advanced circuit modeling, every nuance of the original hardware - from its rich oscillators to its lush filters and saturating amplifier - has been faithfully recreated with unparalleled precision.

Proxima is based on a unique analog synth from 1982, famous for its rich 6-voice polyphony, signature Curtis analog chips, and the first synth ever to integrate MIDI input and output.

While Proxima faithfully recreates the tone and character of the original hardware, additional features have also been added to facilitate the creative process and bring the hardware seamlessly into the sphere of soft synths. This includes additional filter types, a powerful modulation matrix with 10 slots, a comprehensive arpeggiator/sequencer, as well as an effect section to further shape the sound.

Proxima is available in VSTĀ®, AAX and Audio Unit formats, and supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), as well as the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS).

Could it be based on Prophet-600? Wonder how it sounds? I did like Legend but was kind of disappointed with Obsession (or whatever the Oberheim emu was called). It didn't sound so close to hardware to me.

I could understand back in the day there was an evolution of technology & most classic synths had a purpose in that regard. All these software emulations honestly they sound fine but why emulate all these old synths.

Agreed. Judging by the demo, this is nothing special too but their Legend release was superb

I think they have a place in the landscape, some people remember that old stuff, maybe used to own one and would buy a digital version of it. There are many old synths that I'm not familiar with but is released as plugin and I buy it because I think it sounds interesting, has a vibe.

I don't prescribe to the idea that we are in modern times, so we can only use modern synths, or that old synth can only sound retro so it can't be used in a modern production. I think that is a closed-minded, low-aspiration, uncreative attitude to have. Not accusing anyone here of that, it's just that's how conversations here about classic synth emulations usually deteriorate towards.

when people stop buying synth emulation plugins, developers will stop making new ones. Also, not every older emulation plugin has all of the more recent features ,etc. that people want. MPE, NKS, Clap format plugins... Legend, Legend HZ, Dune, and Obsession all nice plugins, so the more plugins from them the better. If one of the developers who have an older emulation of the same thing, but do not create new versions with modern user wishlist features; they are the ones leaving that gap in the implementation for someone else to sneak their version of something in that space. There is nothing really forcing anyone to have "too many" of anything; make up your mind and pick one.

Still waiting for smth with Vital interface, features (like easily assignable customizable lfos) and workflow, but that could sound like softube modular if needed. That would be killer.
