And the haters who come in saying that piss-soaked Foobar or AIMP are better — they can just install Winamp and join the party.

Yeah, I know about that treasure. It's a black hole—many who visited that site lost themselves chasing the one perfect skin. Families fell apart, wives left, jobs were lost, people drank themselves into oblivion… it's a road to nowhere. But here, in this thread, you can show off just how cool your skins really are.

Once I found the skin I wanted, I only ever used that.

It was called resurgence, although I very much doubt it is still available.

Eemhh... I used Winamp for years and I don't think I ever strayed from the default skin. It's perfect in any way, clear and not cluttered yet carrying a distinct flair of its own. It really whips the Llama's ass.

And because of this, when Winamp 3 (remember that?) came out it just looked wrong. I'm pretty certain that was the point where I started considering other music players. Blasphemy I know, but they started it.

yeah it was a great run Win98SE and XP

 

You can still use Winamp on a modern system, but now it's called QMMP and it's freeware, it is compatible with all Winamp skins.

I'm still using old Winamp with latest W11 build - no problems at all

 

The skin I use since forever is ClearOne v1.5 by Axialix Design.
It has a ton of options, you can change all the colors & effects (the blue shiny bar in the middle is a small spectrum view that also has different styles)
and the glass effects were something revolutionary in the Winamp skinning community back in the early 2000s.
There basically were no good clear/glass skins before Axialix found a way to also make playlist, visualizer, etc. see through.



You can resize that bar vertically to anywhere, I always had it as wide as my taskbar is.

The main window is just that small thing on top. As with ClearOne, you can choose from a bunch of color options.

Only downside:
on modern displays those skins are becoming quite small and the scaling option in WinAmp/WACUP make everything look shite.

Yes, under the name WACUP, development on WinAmp continues to make it compatible with modern systems.

Back in the days it was my go to player, didn't use anything else, especially because it was one of the 1st players
to support mkv video files. Used it for everything. As of today for Video I use PotPlayer and for Audio
a modified version of the Resonic player (with dark skin enabled and some of the pro features).

 

I have tried many. I even had a special collection of them. One day I saw this MMD3 and it became my skin. You could change colors and visuals too. Great desing.
