Super misleading screen cap from Olive lip syncing "You're Not Alone" on TOTP on May 23 1997. Tim Kellet on the keys.

JP-8000 was not out when the song was made. Nonetheless I erroneously believed it was for (over 2) decades.

To the pedants: I can see that it isn't connected. I was confused by just its presense.

Donators in their Discord get access to the alpha builds of their plugins before they release to the public.

That article could be written just by viewing the video, reading the website, this thread, and looking up the chip part numbers. It does not contain any information beyond those sources.

Is it like a one-time donation or do you keep donating to receive new alpha builds?

They got it the same way everyone else got it when they released the first alpha version to donators. If you don't see anything on their official Discord, you a) missed the official announcement in the general chat channel, and/or b) aren't a donator so you don't have access to the VIP areas which are exclusive to people who have supported the project.

Note this is currently early in development, and is not ready to share publicly. When it is, it will be available to everyone, will be in a good state, and free like all the other emulators they make. Sharing early builds is prohibited, pisses off the developers, and just make them want to stop doing this stuff for free (or at least stop sharing early until an official release), so people should respect that for the good of everybody. If you want to donate and get access, the details are in the FAQ of their website or in the Discord which has all the info you need.

Am I wrong when thinking it has to be a JP-8000 / 8080 Emulator ?

From what I've seen it's a one-time donation to get access to a "VIP" area in the DIscord.

It uses the original firmware from the 8000/8080 - so its 100% the same as the hardware.
And everyone can get official access to its alpha if you donate some money to them,
otherwise wait for the public release - it will be worth it.

Yep, it's sensational. Loaded with the Sounds available on the sister site and the firmware of the JP8000 from the manufacturer. Mapped straight to my Minilab. I had a JP8000 in the studio for a year. Sounds Identical. Like the Nord and Waldorf, they are the real deal. Best 30 quid I've spent in a long while.:)

I love the authenticity of the wobbly volume knob, true attention to detail.

A friend of mine was apparently waiting for an emulator of the 8080, can't remember why, but they're pretty ecstatic about this. Definitely looks like quality stuff, always good to see more emulators in the scene, super useful. Keeping an eye on this, don't really have the capital to give a donation for early access, so I suppose I'll have to wait for the full release.
