I never felt that Falcon and Omnishphere ever directly compared very well. If you want oodles of top quality presets requiring minimal, if any, tweaking nothing beats Omni. If the first thing you look for in a new softsynth is how to init a patch, then it's hands down Falcon over Omni.

The hardware profiles for Omni and the sample and toolset expansions for Falcon keep in line with that, I think.

The first Spectrasoncis Atmosphere was powered by a UVI engine. See image in the file attachment.

Even back then, UVI had extremely good loading times and was very fast. The UVI Falcon is also a Native Instruments Kontakt alternative for me, which is why I bought it back then and finally decided to part ways with Kontakt.

Falcon is difficult to master at first glance, but if you work with it for several days in a row, it becomes easier and more manageable. Read the manual if you can concentrate on something for a long time; learn it when you feel like it and prefer the Flacon.

The Falcon's sound is very clear and powerful. In terms of quality, UVI is state-of-the-art. You can be really creative with it, but it's more for aspiring, upcoming, and current sound designers.

I did. And I do not regret it.

I had one chance to get my 'Big Library' synth/instrument thingy correct due to restrictive funds. Once commited, I had to stick with whatever lady I bring to the big dance. I chose Falcon.

The Falcon default library had me take my hat off and salute. The very deliberate and high quality sonic selections in their expansions, coupled with UVIs' particular nit-picky-or-naw approach to synthesis just blows me away constantly. It's different like a m/f. UVI Falcon implores that you break off from the 'Me-too' crowd and join the the quietest synth rebellion ever.

I now have the most powerful battlestation in this quadrant IMHO.

    I recommend to all.

Falcon replaced a lot of Kontakt banks here, and Omnisphere too.
    SAMPLES quality is top.

Just watched The Omnisphere 3 presentation and i just wonder... how are these 2 comparable?

$500 for Omnisphere 3 (+massive respect for no ai bullshit and for keeping the same ui we are all used to but with more features)
    $800 for a kontakt clone

    am i missing something?

I guess it is the ImageLine effect. Imageline owns UVI now.

Falcon is NOT a Kontakt clone.
It is more a "special" ROMpler.

And yes, i prefer Falcon to Omnisphere.

you missed quite a lot actually :)
Falcon isn’t just a sampler — it’s a full creative studio: 24 types of oscillators, all kinds of samplers, wavetable, FM, additive, phase distortion, analog, drum synths, IRCAM stuff, Lua scripting — you name it. And you can make unlimited layers of sounds combining all these sound sources, adding effects, modulators and scripting as deep as your processor allows.
Kontakt on the other hand Just a boring sampler with awful scripting
And your biggest miss? The price :)

Update is free for existing Falcon users. Omnisphere 3 is $200 to update. I haven't read any changelogs or even finished downloading the new version of Falcon yet; but I am going to guess that I should not expect a total overhaul of either one.

The age of Omnisphere isn't even really an excuse for the update price, as Serum was just about as long, before being updated to v2 for free.

So my question, in light of this development, is if you switch from legit back to the peg leg and eye patch version; do you need to re-download the entire Steam folder for v2? It might be useful to know this in advance.

Falcon VS Omnisphere = Falcon. No contest. Falcon is so extremely powerful its ridiculous. Its almost a daw. The Oscillator types, FX, modulation, sequencers, etc etc etc.

If you can't wrap your head around navigating it, like i couln't at first, its well worth spending the time learning it.

Falcon is much more than just a rompler, its whatever you want it to be.

    From changelog:

    26.0.0 ------------
    - Add 4 new oscillators: Phase Shaper, SupraSaw, 8o8 Bass Drum, Grains
    - Add 3 new effects: Bloom Reverb, Tube Amp FX, Vowels filter
    - Add 2 modulators: Voice Modulator, Flow Noise
    - Add event: Chord Generator script
    - Add 100 hand-crafted presets to the Falcon Factory
    - Add Markovian mode to Arpeggiator
    - Add visualizers for DiffuseDelay and VelvetDelay
    - Add UI Improvements (knobs, wording, font and spacing work for better usability)

    3.1.1 ------------
    - Fix some issues and crashes related to the new Tag Browser
    - UI tweaks in the new Tag Browser
    - Can now use AND and OR operation for timbre tags

All great additions and so on, but it is an update on a scale of prior ones. The version number change is looking like more a switch to Calendar Versioning and for some marketing purposes more than a major version number upgrade. To me this usually says there isn't much left to fix.

You can’t really compare the two since Falcon is bigger but slightly shallower in libraries, it’s like a pool that’s wider but not as deep, but synthesis and modularity gets ridiculous and it has synthesis types Omnisphere doesn’t have, Omnisphere is more of a deep pool that’s smaller in width but much less shallow, and smaller.

Falcon may have more and larger libraries, but Omnisphere only needs one or two to be just as nutritious in a sense, both have deep synthesis despite Falcon being more advanced.

Falcon is the only big hundreds of gigabytes libraries Titan monster I have, I actually first got it because it finally had midi out, but it definitely is worth the $200 I spent cause it came with four expansions at the time I bought it, and the synthesis is just so addictive, and the free update definitely gave it more value right away despite me having to buy another expansion for $20..

Of course it’s $150 AGAIN, but it’s still worth $200… skip Kontakt having to buy giant libraries to even get use out of it, you can start with an empty library and make your own, but I’ll be more interested in the digital synthesis than sampling

I’m still not sure where these 100 presets are like I’m gonna have to compare the sizes of my Falcon factory library in my MacBook with the backup in my hard drive, it’s not updated yet because it’s still at home
