Ha! Yeap, keep those updaters updating and that telemetry telemetry-ing, and they will pooch you every time. I'm pretty sure it won't stop there either. MS will probably keep crapping on stuff (if you let them) little bits at a time until the entire system (that they want you to get rid of) is befuddled and you are forced to "upgrade" to whatever junkware laden POS they put in front of you... This is the price you pay for using OEM install images and letting them run amok unoptimized...

thats why dont make ISOs one day before EOL :D

i have an older win10 pro x64 ISO saved for these reasons on HDDs.

one could say MS might have done this on purpose?

I haven't used a OEM ms ISO since XPpro SP2. Only pre-optimized with the junkware removed... once you've gone "darkside" leaving the OEM crap in the garbage can, the whole "EOL" gambit becomes a thing of the past...

Actually that SP2 might have been the most stable windows O/S - ever.I will redirect back to topic but that's definitely worth acknowledging that at some point, they 'almost' got their updates, service packs and fixes right. Good memory @saccamano :)

precisely why some European countries switched to Linux. I have Win 7 Ultimate and Win 10 Pro backup ISOs. I have been waiting for ReactOS because of its ability to use windows programs but it seems to be taking forever we are all fed up with MS with it' spyware and treachery. It is Reacts 26th anniversary already , I think I'll give their latest version a try on an old i3 laptop although its only 32bit.

Zorin OS is another I tried but has now really improved it's 64 bit and very stable another one to try out.

my favorite Windows was XP Pro with SP2 and I also used XP64 which were also my favorite of all MS OS. I still have them both somewhere as I archived all of them from Win 98SE up. I've seen modified and supposedly updated versions of XP while doing OS software searches but didn't bother with them.

My crystal ball says there will be three more Tool albums before ReactOS becomes viable.

Yes, unfortunately I have to agree. ReactOS has been promising since... it must be two decades at least. I'm not mocking them, though. It's a really remarkable project.

maybe if you never did anything in it, xp was bluescreen central. so many things that now crash gracefully would pull the whole OS down

you know there's actually quite some space taken in a Windows ISO by some Windows POS (Point Of Service) functionality thing? It's actually for using a Windows machine to charge customers: store, coffee, etc
I discovered it modding a Windows 10 ISO by myself. First thing I thought was "oh my, Piece Of Shit, they confess it":rofl:

This would be the correct implied usage of the POS acronym.
