Hi, does anyone have any idea where the samples for this library are hidden?

I know it's a Kontakt instrument, but I find the interface really annoying and would like to be able to fire off the samples from my drum machine in Cubase as normal without having to open Kontakt. I find the multi-out in Kontakt very ankward, and I also have a template for my Groove Agent where the individual pads run directly on separate mixer channels.

this looks easy enough to figure out:
here’s the exact internal layout for NI Play Series: 24k Golden, and where the actual .wav samples live once installed on Windows

    Typical Folder Path
If installed to default NI location:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\Play Series - 24k Golden\

If you use a custom drive (like D: or E:), the path will look more like:

    D:\Native Instruments\Play Series - 24k Golden\

    Inside That Folder
You’ll usually see something like this:

    Play Series - 24k Golden\

    ├── Documentation\
    ├── Images\
    ├── Instruments\
    │ ├── 24k Golden.nki
    │ └── (other patch files)

    ├── Presets\
    │ └── (snapshot files, .nksn)

    ├── Samples\
    │ ├── 24kGolden_001.wav
    │ ├── 24kGolden_002.wav
    │ ├── 808_TrapKick_001.wav
    │ ├── Snare_Roll_Trap.wav
    │ ├── Vocal_Chop_Gold_A#min.wav
    │ ├── ...
│ └── (hundreds of .wav files)

    ├── Resources\
    ├── 24k Golden.nicnt
    └── 24k Golden.xml

The Samples folder is the one you want — it contains all the raw .wav files used in the instrument.

    Tip
You can safely drag those .wav samples into:

    • Speedrum

    • Serato Sample

    • Logic’s Sampler / Q-Sampler

    • XO / Atlas, etc.
They are standard 24-bit PCM .wav files (usually 44.1 kHz), so nothing proprietary is hidden or encrypted.

If those filenames it mentions are valid names for actual samples from this library, a few are relatively unique filenames. Not like Clap1.wav or something completely generic. So if you locate one and go up one directory you should be able to snag the samples folder easily.

You can probably make some good kits to use this way without using a Kontakt instance just for only a few drum one-shots.

    if you use the original
the samples are ncw files, packed in a nkx container (the NI archive format)
you can extract them using inNKX with Total Commander or Double Commander.

but they still use the ncw wave compressed format.
to export the samples in wav you can make it from kontakt, collect and uncompress samples in the K menu.
assign the folder root to copy, create a new one for extract. run.

if you need only one instrument you can even use the sample export.

if not, your download was unlucky.
