not here, but in main purpose youre right

when changing date back to late june: plugins working fine
then back to real date: plugins not working anymore
first working date (in future): 2014-08-01

so it seems this time it's an u-he get-a-fucking-license - MONTH, not a day... well...

 

lets take diva as example, yes, license details are stored in a text file but even the "old" doa release seems to be just the (old) retail installer with a legit serial because it worked also for upcoming versions. but now even the old version isn't working anymore. funny thing, the r2r version is working, due to a crack but it's fixed to that build which doesnt has the latest digital vco thing in diva. the latest version is working again on 1st of august with the serial.

the solution would be to have kinda system-time-proxy which delivers a different date to the daw when a plugin asks for the systems datetime, but i guess theres nothing alike,... is it?

 

It's got nothing to do with the time-zone: I'm in Western-Europe.
Internet access can't be the problem either, cause I've blocked both http://www.u-he.com & http://www.u-he.com/cms/ in the host-file (Mac - Mavericks)

 

on osx, besides using little snitch on DAW, TCP block etc, and generally being OFFLINE when working with these volatile U-he plugs, does blocking the AU's/VST's from Little Snitch provide any additional protection (i guess as in system process), not sure what hosts I would block in addition), …

beat me to the punch on that Turfsta, so those would be included to block in the host-file mac os, wonder if there is something else…

Also, I know host blocking has raised a lot of questions for users (including myself at times , not sure if it sufficient to block hosts simply from firewall/little snitch, and I know when a lot of newcomers hear "host blocking" their eyes glaze over and they move on….

but an easy handy dandy guide to proper host blocking from a pro like Copylefter might be of great use to us all, as these questions pop up frequently… I would do it myself, but I am not the expert he is and would probably screw it up somewhere…, cause I am an idiot sometimes… best to all.

The simplest thing to do is what I do with every audio application I install. You install the app with Revo Uninstaller and make sure to save the log when you're done. That way when you uninstall you can be sure that it will remove all traces from the registry and your file system. This can be incredibly useful for such programs as Kontakt and Reaktor because they make a million registry entries and if you don't do this you will torture yourself. Important: do NOT run anything else while you're tracing the install, if you do it can cause problems for you when you uninstall by removing things you still may want on your system.

PS uhe plugs don't call home so all that host blocking is unnecessary.

you feel so much urge to use his software without any issues? :phones:
He's for sure not a BIG developer nor aristocrat living like a king in
a golden castle. Quite understandable that he wants to sell the products.
I bet you'll be more happy with supporting him/them with your decision.

Well its not always possible for some people.. I've only bought my synths this year after many years of using them and that was because at the age of 32 I was finally in a position to do that. Zebra is a little more expensive than sylenth or massive but totally worth it imo. I think it's funny when threads like this pop up and I'm glad I don't have this problem anymore but on the other hand, it weren't so long ago when I would have frantically been looking for a solution myself.
