    tl;dr save yourself time and headache, ignore all of the outside comments that say "just put bins in vst3 folder and youre done!" :dont:

    do what xorome says in the best answer below and everything will work great! :yes:

    Hi everyone! I downloaded all of the new synths and installed ok but when I open them none have any presets or sounds. I looked at the comments and searched here for a solution but everything I try doesnt work.

    I dont know why its so difficult with these. I never had this kind of issue before with any synth. Please help me figure it out! :snuffy:

    To try and simplify this, example of one synth downloads to install:

    Nodal RedX2-2.0.1 -installed to VST3 folder, opened in DAW, no banks or preset sounds (yet).

    "nord_lead_2x.bin"
    "your momma.bin"

    -exactly where do I put these 2 bin files? Do I need to do anything further or will they auto load in the synth next time I open it?

    I also downloaded additional banks/presets:

    "NL2x Factory Program Library v1.0 (RAM only)"
    "NL2x Banks"

    -exactly where do I put these 2 folders/files and do i need to do anything else to load them in the synth?

    For this synth, I dont see any "ROM" files in any of these folders or files I downloaded so I dont know why they say to use it and what the user/ROM folder is for :dunno:

    Best Answer
    ROM -> C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\Documents\The Usual Suspects\NodalRed2x\roms\nord_lead_2x.bin

    Extra user presets -> C:\Users\YourUserNameHere\Documents\The Usual Suspects\SomeSynth\SomePresetFolder

    You can add folders containing presets to the browser/patch manager by opening the browser and right clicking on "Data Sources" / "User Folders" or whatever it's called in that particular plugin's browser.

    1.) Nodal_RedX2-2.0.1_WIN

    1. Go to the " Plugins " Folder
    2. UnRar the: DSP56300Emu-2.0.1-win64-NodalRed2x-VST3
    3. Put the " NodalRed2x.vst3 " Folder into:
    4. C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
    5. Scan in the DAW for new plugins

    Put the : nord_lead_2x.bin into:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\NodalRed2x.vst3\Contents\Resources

    2.) Clavia Nord Lead 2x Soundset Pack - 40 MB
    Aug 2024 | MID/SYX | 40MB | 18000+ presets in banks and sorted

    This is a big soundset Pack for the Clavia Nord Lead 2x, it includes also Sounds made for
    the Nord Lead 1 and Nord Lead 2 as these can be loaded aswell with the 2x version.

    Some Soundsets are exported from Discovery Pro (Those also sound different, because Discovery Pro
    doesnt quite resemble the hardware and also has a few more features the NL2x doesnt have.

    There are maybe some duplicates. It is hard to tell, because Clavia didnt really have any preset
    naming apart from Numbers and Bank naming. But it does have some kind of categories atleast.

    These can also be imported to Discovery Pro of course if you dont have the hardware. Enjoy

    INSTALL
    1. Download and UnRar
    2. Inside is the " NL2x Banks " Folder
    3. Put this into: C:\
    4. Open the Nodal Red 2X Preset Browser
    5. Go to " Data Source "
    6. Right Mouse Klick and " Add the Folder " --> NL2x Banks

    You can put the preset files wherever you want, but I don't think there is a way to make plugins see them without doing what @xorome said: You can add folders containing presets to the browser/patch manager by opening the browser and right clicking *with the right button* on "Data Sources" / "User Folders" or whatever it's called in that particular plugin's browser. *and choosing the folder with preset files*.<-- you should do this in every patch browser of every plugin and it will remember it. Next time you load the plugin you will have all the presets in the folder you chose listed. Happy music making! :wink:

    Ok so WE HAVE SOUND GLORIOUS SOUND!! :hifive:

    *notes: putting the .bin files inside "...Contents/Resources" folder did not work. When opened in DAW the error popup opens the user/ROM folder in windows browser looking for files. The plugin only works with the .bin files inside the ROM folder!! This is what had me all f*&^%# up and confused! One guy says do this, the next says do that, the developers page says.. :deep_facepalm:

    TY to the guys who actually gave me simple made-for-dummy instructions!! :hahaha:

    One down 4 to go!

    Xenia, I put the "Factory Sounds" folder inside the User/.../Xenia folder, right clicked in browser and added - all good now!!! :wink::wink::wink:

    Osirus + OsTirus both working now that I moved bins out of the VST3 folder and into the user/folders, reloaded the plugins and browsed. Thank god!:like:

    I wish someone who has been around long would go to audioz and strike down those comments in all of these pages saying put in vst3 folder done. :trolls:

    One last one to tackle:

    Now im looking at Vavra v2.0.2 and there isnt a bin file at all? its a mq_2_23.mid file - i put it into ROM also, but it didnt work, also tried right clicking, add files in browser, but again 0. I still only hear the "dumping" tone and the patches browser shows 0 for everything listed. There werent any preset patches in the download so I dont have anything else to right click/add folder with. unless I missed something at audioz to download extra files? :dunno:

    Vavra is working now that I downloaded the extra files I missed in the peeplink ffs :suicide:! but its still weird, only .mid files and some show 0 in the browser, only like 200 presets in total? but I am still very happy to have finally got these working!!!!!!! thank you guys youre the best and all winners to me! :drunks::cheers::hug::phunk:

    - mQ_factory2001

    1.) Download & UnRar

    2.) Put the " microQ Banks " Folder into:

    3.) EXAMPLE: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\VST3 Presets

    4.) Click on the " Patches " Button --> it open the Preset browser

    5.) Click with the right Mouse Taste on " Data Source "

    - A small 'Pop Up Menu' opens - Please use the " Add Files "

    6.) then go the " C:\Users\YourName\Documents\VST3 Presets\microQ Banks "

    This used to be the case in early versions, so the (old) info was true at the time. However, things changed up when TUS added the patch browser and streamlined the patch handling and made it consistent across all plugins.

    The lesson is, when looking for instructions on software that's still in development, check the date the info was posted - if it was posted years ago, the chances are it may well be out of date and incorrect, and weight the advice accordingly.

    Telling the truth, the soundbanks' case is a little bit messy for me, for example: I have for Vavra:

    -a file ForumThree_uQ.mid
    -a folder ForumThree_uQ_Singles
    -a folder ForumThree_Q_Pattern

    Do I need them all, or just .mid is enough?

    Then I have soundbanks only for Nodal 2x, Vavra and Xenia. Are there sondbanks for Osirus and OsTirus?

    Yes @nmkeraj, i make a Download Link for You.

    1.) OSIRUS -------> C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Osirus.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win
    virus_a_28.bin

    2.) OSTIRUS ------> C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\OsTIrus.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win
    Ti2 firmware.bin

    " The Usual Suspects - Osirus - 8x ROMS " (See attached image for contents)

    Free Download --> https://mega.nz/file/ivxlDKRZ#FqxMTXfsOLLtBmtbEWSEz3IDWTY66ZtXkkxd-v-874w

    As far as I know, you can only copy and play one ROM (*.bin) into the corresponding folder.

    More ROMS are here: https://dbwbp.com/index.php/9-misc/37-synth-eprom-dumps
