at what time of the day or night do you feel most creative, productive and inspired to make music?

if you ask me... i would say past midnight.. but often around 4 to 5 pm day too.. but mostly at night the inspiration is the best

    past 11 PM here.

when most people are asleep the atmosphere becomes calm, easier to dive into the creative planes :)

certain projects started at night do not feel as fine the next day at noon or so...

Night feels better for creativity. Day feels better for productivity.

It's hard to be creative when you have to do 10 other things. When people are watching TV, browsing, asleep, and just minding their own business, it feels much easier to be creative and delve into the depths of your own mind.

As you remember, math was in the first few hours of class, as concentration is highest early in the morning. Creativity, however, requires peace and quiet from external influences. Since cars, trucks, and factories are running during the day, it only gets quieter in the evening after 9 p.m., as the sound waves from noise sources simply diminish.

Under stress and during the day, you'll probably come up with little creative ideas, as your brain is awake and constantly has to make decisions, green lights go, red lights stop. Friends and foes. Assessing dangers. However, if you're at home and doing simple tasks, there's a good chance you'll come up with something, or you're sitting comfortably, feeling good, and your brain waves will switch to the next mode.

Now you might think of other things. Never lose touch with nature, because only nature heals us. There are many artists who go into the solitude of the forests to think and work in peace; the phone is either unavailable or turned off.
Delta waves: (less than 4 Hz) Deep, dreamless sleep and very deep relaxation. These are the slowest brain waves.

Theta waves: (4-8 Hz) Light sleep, meditation, deep relaxation, and creative thinking. Theta waves are typical of REM sleep, during which dreams occur, and are also associated with states of daydreaming and inner concentration.

Alpha waves: (8-12 Hz) This is the frequency the brain reaches when it is relaxed. The brain is awake but not actively processing information.

Beta waves: (13-30 Hz) The brain reaches this frequency when it is awake and needs to process external information. Beta waves occur when we are concentrating, solving problems, or engaged in mental activity.

Gamma waves: (30-140 Hz) Gamma waves are associated with states of learning, memory, and awareness. They also involve problem-solving.

This isnt about creativity, but hearing is better at night. We evolved from arboreal species, so visual cues are vital. If there's a conflict between visual and aural perceptions, visual always wins, it's a matter of survival. At night, as our species have a poor night vision, aural cues become more important, to detect predators during our rest time. Artificial lights dont change this in depth. We KNOW it is night.
I'm not a musician, I'm doing mixing and mastering. I'm usually working at night, between 10 pm and 3 a.m. I often work two hours in the morning too. Coarsely, morning work is for the big picture, night work is for details.
