linux eventually requires of you to know how computers work. it takes time to learn it. was difficult. messed around with it for around 10 years but then finally left windows for good. took a year to get used to it. and another year of learning important things. just use plain arch with xfce and learned how to go about fixing loads of different issues. lots of crying and whining happened to me. it just takes time. but if you use apple or windows, you're paying in some way too. either way you pay in the form of time or money. but it seems like linux is more of a portable skill than windows or osx.

    Best advice.

Have a dual boot ( make new partition or even better add another disk if you can so keep OS separate)
Add new partition install Linux you want (Ubuntu, Debian Rhino, Arch...) then play with it expriment install wine
Good stuff that runs fine on Linux native: Renoise, Bitwig
On wine FL Studio runs pretty well. I tested Ableton back in the day was version 10.3 was ok
You will need to bridge wins VST in Linux format. Yabridge is good for that.

Then on the windows partition I would use GhostSpectre the best windows OS for making music and playing games. So you can run the stuff you need pretty fast without the windows bloat and annoyance.

Keep your more secure stuff on Linux partition like doing purchase online and things like that needs more security. Less prone to hacks invasion virus.

    Good luck.

Linux... for music... hmmm, I've done with this game!!!!

So... I tried linuxes!! MANY, it is ok for daily usual work.. browsing, play audio/video mp3, mp4.. avi... maybe some office (complete Libre office, Open office...) and something like that... For music... Ay, Ay, Aaaaayyyyy.... too many thing to instal, check, open konsole 1056546 times, set this, set that... use this, use that... Sorry, I don't have all my life to set up Linux for MY NEEDS...

Second thing.. there are sooo many distributions that I must try... and avery one of them have something that I need to learn... repository.. this kernell... because newest have large latency.. THIS KERNEL IS NOT USUABLE WITH THIS DISTRIBUTION.. .. mx, debian, red hat, blu bra, white socks... no.. NO!!! I don't have all my life...

Closest to usuable linux in what I can work is AV linux... BUT...
    ...

I see many can and easily work in and with linux... but... I didn't...

I don't hate linux, I respect their philosophy... but, just it is a verrry complicated for roockie and especialy for non english user.. because commands are in .. english of course...
should I use sudo command , or ~, or even maybe /$.. or... mabe...
    No!...

    I've done with that game.
Stick to win... disconnect from net.. and go.

My introduction to linux unveiled some truths - when you ask for help in the many forums, you will get more people telling you are doing it wrong, instead of helping.

    Yeah ... that's called a sect

Positive side : i love Mint as "every day" OS, even if i stopped using it
Negative side : making music on Linux is for masochists, or ppl will LIMITED needs

I once bought a book about Linux: LINUX, install, configure and use with CD ROM (Open Linux Lite 1,2 from OPS Verlag.
I read it then, but it was years ago. Today we are by Version 7,6 www.linuxliteos.com/download.php

All of that is easily avoided by installing AVLinux (or Ubuntu Studio). Half an hour of your time and you have a plug and play low latency system optimised for music production, including a couple of DAWs with a collection of plugins. Just press Rec button and rock.

You won't get there nearly as fast with MacOS, let alone Windows, but you know that. That's why you pretend you have to try "sooo many distributions", to do everything except the right thing. Creating drama and spewing hatred against Linux and its users is so much more fun.

Just read my post carefully.. I mentioned that I HAD instaled AV linux and i have some usuable respond from it... BUT, I had "problems" instal some of plugins that is "must have" in my case.. even I downloaded linux versions.. recomended to use with yarbridge.. wine.. but all programs, Reaper, Mixbus and Ardour didn't see plugin... ofcourse, I point where is that plugin... So what about halion, IK multimedia and other plugins.. even I had hard time finding decent SFZ/SF2 player in linux... downloaded Sforzando.. linux version... it says that I do not have something.. ????? I asked google, chat GPT's... they gave me some commands... I try them. Nothing happend. Dead.
Further, I have Audigy card AND realteck attached on my computer... one is for speaker, other is for headphones.. I can't make AV linux to play headphones... most of the time I need headphones. I must admit, Audigy works fine, consideringf it is an old card, and you can'tt find propper drivers.. No problemo. But headphones. silence.
opened konsole, or whatever it's called so many times... type commands, copy- paste 'solutions" from forums, chats, youtube...

    aaaaargggghhhhhhhhh. Not!

Somewhere throughout internet I saw a picture.. saying like: "Windows teach you how to work on computers, Linux teach you how computers work".
Computer is my tool. I don't want to tools teach me how to use tool... If I use hammer, I certainly don't want to hammer tech me how to smack nails, ..or something else. I want to grab it and smack... If you understand...

And again, I don't hate linux, I don't tell peoples to stop using it... probably I will try, and try. but in my spare time.

One tip for those who want to try multiple OS's... try Ventoy... just copy ISO file.. as many you want (or have place on flash strick) and run it... no instal, no unpack... https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html

I said again! For daily using base.. or for do something "on the fly".. caualy.. it's super. Secured for viruses.. great... no stupid milion thing that can ocupy your attention.. fenomenal.. video fast editing, yeeah. But serious work.. audio, graphic, I don't think so...

I point that I don't wanna fight, say bad words to anybody.. just point my point of view...

I tried "swapping to Linux" like 5 times, and i just got really fast at typing ´sudo´ damnit.. And after you set up everything and thinking, "i´m good forever" it actually never ends, always some fiddling, and proponents think reading about linux and trying to remember what the f everything means...xfce, this that, bro...in the wilderness there is no time for thinkering with the OS, we have elephants to hunt.

People who can use it for more than internet tho, in my opinion have a different brain..

So basically i´m hating it, i dont care. I´ll boot it of a USB tho

So, last Saturday I purchased a new Asus laptop, high end machine with ASIO, Hi-Rez certified etc among other things. I reconsider this idea that I did when I purchased the previous Dell Machine, mentioned in first post. The cost/benefit ratio with Ubuntu's not supporting my software and heaving a learning curve involved, favored the Windows, especially that I can modify, tweak, strip it to my linking.

I started the Windows modding project by assembling the tweaks and scripts after ripping the Windows apart bit by bit and observing the functions and dependencies. I got to a point after working for entire night, then a brawl broke out with my elder sister who accused me of being a free loader and burden on family for 3rd time in just one week.

I fed the ungrateful fcuks for 10 years from my own pocket with total disregard for my own needs. Now my health has detoriated to the point I can no longer work, I get reminded often how useless I'm. Okay.

I've decided not to use the new machine (I purchased it from my money not from the family's money). But Internet is theirs, I'm not going take a single cent from here on. I've to tolerate this BS only because of my mum. If she wasn't in the way, I would flee and don't ever look back. And that's exactly what I'm going to do when she passes away.

Anyways, enough of personal BS. Here's what I was preparing, if anyone find this useful. It's just in the beginning phase but still has some (very) useful function.

    https://www.upload.ee/files/18650062/25H2.zip.html

Includes tweaks for SSD, NTFS, GPU, Shell, Telemetry etc. I did not give filenames and extensions as I was in the phase of document the changes I was going to do but if you know how to use it, it will make your Win 11 3x better already.

Use with caution, only for advanced users.

People who can't figure out what it is -or- how to make it work, should totally stay away from it.

P.S. For easing the matter, I've appended the scripts and reg tweaks with headings and comments so you should know what a specific tweak does. Also, this was meant for an offline servicing, not a live system, different scripts executing at different stages of Windows installation to avoid problems. Now you know it all, use it at your own risk, don't hold me accountable for anything.

I did read your post carefully. I replied to the your original post, you later edited it.

Linux versions of plugins do not require and do not work under Wine/Yabridge. If the plugins you downloaded were supposed to be used under Wine/Yabridge, they were not native Linux plugins.

Plugins not being seen by DAWs is a rather platform-agnostic problem, happens all the time. Linux is no worse in that regard than MacOS or Windows. Sometimes it's the developers' fault, sometimes the operator error.

There is no shortage of well functioning native Linux SFZ players. Consequently, you won't find many people complaining about it. I use Sfizz, but the TAL Sampler is a premium sampler plugin which also loads SFZ files.

Steinberg (Halion) and IK Multimedia do not offer Linux native software. Your failing to find a workaround is no fault of Linux.

Basically, you passionately claim that just because you failed in forcing the tool to function outside its operating range, the tool is absolutely useless. That's rather interesting logical reasoning.

I wonder what your honest opinion on the Mac platform would be, based on how well that Audigy card performs under MacOS.
