Hey Guys,

My Dad had a stroke a couple of years back and is bed ridden in a nursing home.

There is a docuseries on a politician that he was chief of security of in the 70's.

I can't find it anywhere to download it. But it is on a government channel streaming website.

He really wants to see it. I wanted to download it and put it on a thumb drive so he can watch it from his tv.

Just need a good and simple to use screen recorder so I can record in real time.

I've tried a tonne of video download extentions, but none of them have been successful. The site must have decent security for these extentions.

Any recommendations truly appreciated.

OBS studio. Had a hard time myself to find one a hile ago and was surprised how it was pretty hard to find something as basic as something that would just reord my screen. I use the one fromthe PortableApps website cause somehow that worked better than the OG (somehow that didnt work or something - cant remember what exactly)

 

Out of curiosity, is there a title of the documentary series?

 

The best hands down for screen recording (only) is "Bandicam". Not free, but available... ahem... with "massive discount"

 

I found the one that comes with the movavi suite pretty straightforward and simple to use.

 

Like a couple of others have said, OBS is great, and v flexible - like you can use it as a simple screen recorder, or run a big multicam + screen capture streaming setup from it, or anything in between - it's super configurable to whatever you need it to do.

 

I'm a complete dope when it comes to screen recording, but the ONLY one I've found easy to use is Camtasia. I haven't updated it in 4 or 5 years so not sure what the new version is like.

As for free? technically no, but...


On a more personal note. I wish your dad a speedy recovery. Also, why not post some details of what it is you want and maybe someone else will have more luck?

 

OBS like suggested is perfect and free for screen captures.
You may find some TV Channels cannot be captured like ITV and you will just get a blank/black screen but BBC is OK and some others.
I normally setup a shortcut key in settings like F9 to Start/Stop Recording.
(Just setup Sources: Display Capture: and Audio Mixer: Input and all ready to go)
