I also think UAD seems more likely. But in your opinion, are we talking about the native version, right? Or do you think R2R might have worked on an emulator of the UAD-2 versions?

 

Ruling out Spitfire just because their player "is only a player" overlooks what it really is. It is a drm accomplice of their newer, expensive, non-Kontakt based libraries. They also show some as their own wrapper for plugin formats. it would be like doing East/West Opus, to oversimplify for purposes here. There is lots of sample content, and maybe R2R would not feel bad for the original dev after he got his $50 million dollars from Splice's acquisition. They are also way more expensive than UAD plugins.

 

To me, I would take the phrase "A huge legendary monster" as a 'brand' that has never been never been on the scene, than a software/player from a brand.

 

My 2 cents:

Do you remember R2R’s reaction to the appearance and challenge from -X-? His (-X-) announcement about iLok was "provocative" for groups, which forced R2R to break their silence and upload the same version plus comments directed to -X-. We can observe that R2R is a very ambitious group and does not tolerate hints of competition.

An important nuance: they hadn’t been active online that moment — first they were developing their archiver(installer), and then R2RSYSTEM, which we learned about today. Today plugins appeared that had never been on the scene before (the vendor existed, but there were no new plugins); only REQs.

The announced R2RHTTP.dll, R2RINET.dll, WS2R2R.dll have not yet played their part. No plugin has been released for them.
UPD: I was wrong — the R2R installer actually places R2RHTTP.dll, R2RINET.dll, and WS2R2R.dll into C:\Windows\System32 for some new warez

And this is all from today’s standpoint. In two months a full R2RSYSTEM should appear. R2RSYSTEM is different from the announced R2RHTTP.dll, R2RINET.dll, WS2R2R.dll — those are merely additions to this system.

What conclusion can we draw for sure? We can expect Spitfire, UAD and VSL, SSL as well, because earlier, as I said, there was no warez for Xils-Lab’s The Eighty or new STL plugins available online. In other words, R2R was preparing for something very big and complex. Some of you may remember an NFO stating that they have had many things cracked for a long time but do not release them. Apparently this was due to the absence of a system and a cracking method — which is what the name R2RSYSTEM implies.

One more point I want to stress: R2RHTTP.dll, R2RINET.dll and WS2R2R.dll are for both x32 and x64 architectures (this is mentioned in the announcement). I may be mistaken, but I’ll pose a possibly incorrect question: who has non-cracked plugins for the x32 (x86) system?

R2R’s approach is consistent with targeting the authorization chain rather than the DSP core: target UA Connect / iLok / intermediate DLLs / network layer and the Machine ID generation.

• Components like R2RHTTP.dll / R2RINET.dll / WS2R2R.dll, if loaded into the host process, could be used to:
  • intercept outbound license calls,
  • modify responses,
  • emulate vendor servers locally,
  • or translate network calls to a local verification stub

As much as I want it to be Pro Tools, my money is on UAD or Spitfire. Maybe Pro Tools will come after

 

I have no idea, but personally, I hope to see:

Avenger2 -- it's been so long since an update!
Performance Samples libraries -- there's a number of them still missing
Softube, SSL and Liquidsonics updates -- again, it's been too long!


Honestly, there aren't really other software companies I'm aching to see. Mostly because I can't think of anything out there that's still missing. It's really updates for previously released stuff that hasn't been seen in a very long time.

It doesn't seem like a well-known plugin.
This is my first time hearing about Cead Audio. If so, I'd be personally disappointed.
The company that comes to mind right now is MDW.
It's a brand that's never been released before, designed by the legendary Massenberg.
And they sell some of the most expensive plugins on the market.

 

I think it is a hint when they said to save up your money, because the Pokemon balls are not cheap. To me, this suggests another content related DRM; where they are going to expect you guys to buy all of the expansions aka "balls", like they did with UVI Falcon.

All these guesses will probably be wrong.

I have no idea what it will ultimately be... but if they really cracked ILOK, then I hope we get Softube and UAD.
