To be disappointed, you have to have some unrealistic expectations to start with.

Serum 2 delivered, and so did Nexus 5. That's because they are developers who put out a completed product. If someone has lots more stuff to add to a released plugin; it's because either they were not done with it, or the developer will usually turn out to be one of those "who will fix everything in the next magic update" that never shows up before they run out of money or start another company.

Most people on here probably can't even remember the last time they bought a plugin that turned out to be junk.

he's been scamming for quite some time now. There's a video about how someone bought his company and in that there's 5 seconds clip him admitting he's been using other people studio (and maybe credibility) for the website and whole Sage Audio brands to score online jobs all these years. Most of his "high quality" mastering was done in his bedroom with plugins. Nothing wrong with using plugins but scamming his way to it with using real mastering studio (that doesnt belong to him) pictures with hardware gears is just a dick move.

I watched almost all of his videos (no thanks to YouTube algo) to learn about what not to do during mastering and learn a lot from it. His method is ass and the way he looks at things also kinda stupid IMO. He uses his own track sometimes and he's below average in music. 80% of the stuff he said, content of the videos are something previously discussed here or AZ because the lines seem super familiar, mf just repeating it on the videos.

Yes, it’s a rather idiotic video and the claims are kind of empty and far-fetched. Most likely, it was made just to fill the channel with content and advertise himself, but he hasn’t found good reasons and all that’s left is nitpicking

Was going to say that. All anticipation and build up, no pay off. Essentially gave us everything no one actually asked for or wanted. "We built a watered down DAW for some crazy reason!...... and we have created the added feature of a confusing interface to slow your workflow down. "

Acoustica Audio definitely gets all years Golden Raspberry award for his design of "wanna be analog interfaces so much that it becomes silly and ridiculous".

I feel like everything by Baby Audio I've tried is so painfully average, uninspired and unimaginative. Do they live off "click the link in my description" hype generated by influencers? Or maybe their other stuff is better than what I've tried.

Gullfoss. I've tried several times but, to me, it is just a thing to change apples into oranges. I've always ended bypassing it. I dont understand the hype.

Their plugin Transit is pretty nice, because it is a creative version of multi-fx plugin. It is like Dada Life's Endless Smile, in that you can setup the whole multi-fx chain yourself and then go from 0% wet to 100% as a transition macro automation. It's something different. Arturia is the same thing for me. Fragments is a pretty nice Hologram-inspired plugin; but do I really need their version of a compressor I already have 10 other better emulations and all of them combined take up less hard disk space than the Arturia? Nope, but until people stop buying them; they will continue making them.

A lot of this whole "letdown" thing is people having expectations because they read the marketing garbage. "If you thought this was going to be just another compressor"; well guess what? It's nothing but just another compressor. Or worse, on sister site; we see someone release the same micro updates over and over again; so this thing must be good, right? The real reason is because people keep downloading them. This thread started out about the marketing hype vs the actual plugin; but seems to have now just veered off into plugins we do not like. That is a much bigger attack surface. But the answer to the hype vs plugin, is easy. Stop reading the marketing, and stop watching Youtube. If your initial reaction to a plugin is "Other people like it, what am I missing?"; delete it. You will be right about 99% of the time.

agreed! their plugins are so bland, and most do not sound good. Humanoid = cool. Fun plugin, great for sound design. Atoms = great. The randomization is fun, really unique and cool sounds. Transit = excellent. Endless possibilities and use cases. Mixing, subtle color, extreme FX, transitions. Just a killer plugin. The rest? No. IHNY comp is terrible. Taip? Terrible. Parallel aggressor? one of the worst plugins ive ever tried.

I'm in a like-/dislike-relationship with a lot of products... but man... I have the feeling some people really need to learn to manage their expectations...
