    Hi everyone
    I wanna use my dbx231 eq between the mic and my audio 6 interface to gain the mic signal and use phantom power from the audio 6 do you think that this will work ? Will phantom power damage the EQ or the mic or both or none and this will work? I know phantom powers won't damage non phantom powered equipments but before doing this I just wanted to make sure...
    thanks

    The eq is not made for phantom power. You should put a preamp before the eq. Otherwise you have to go analog-digital-analog-digital.

    the dbx231 is designed to work with line level signals, not microphone level signals. A mic HAS to go through a preamp first or the signal might be too weak to do anything at all.

    As for the phantom power, it's 48v DC, and anything DC is going to dissapear as soon as it hits any part of the 231's that could act as a DC isolator, which is very likely going to happen at the very start of the path and at various points after that. So the phantom power probably won't go through to the mic at all, and i doubt it'll damage anything but like i said before, it's not designed for this kind of scenarios, so anything could happen.

    No other choice but to connect MIC>Preamp with 48V PP>EQ>Audio Interface or Mixer.

    Use the dbx as an insert after the preamp. I loved my 231.

    Condenser mics, ACTIVE Ribbon mics and Active DIs are some of the most common types of equipment to use phantom power. My advice is : DO NOT turn on the phantom power unless you know what you're doing! Providing P48 to equipment not desgined for it can damage the equipment. And, for God's sake don't run anything P48 through patchbay distribution, unless you know what you're doing! ......k, Have a good time!!! :)

    Oh,.....Condenser MIC --> PREAMP (w/ P48) --> EQ --> Destination.
