Angela my IT person says that size doesn't matter but rather the spin of my drive.

 

Some of them even sell their completely oversized versions on SSDs. I think they do it intentionally; they want to be the best. It reminds me of SUVs, which are wider and larger than normal vehicles. When I first downloaded Omnisphere, it took three days to download. I had to buy and burn dual-layer DVDs, and then spend several hours installing it all afternoon.

User-friendly or in the best interests of the users? None! But it was good copy protection back then. The real revolution or evolution is Team R2R, Team Air, and all the others...! Oh, and that's still missing: you had to buy more and larger hard drives.

my vst folder and the archive look something like that ,just snipped a part

of course short names,folders never rar'ed
of course i shrinking from time to time im into it cause i once had the dl monkey virus
BUT i will never back down to keep that tree
i do make heavy use of raxco perfect disk cause my archives are on hdd

 

at least keep them blue and stay hassle free ,also u hadnt one yet .
they live longer then too

but the bd thing i would only do after filtering ,actually i would only have the muse to burn main DAW and lets say a max of 20 plugins.
samples are another story .i depend on fresh breaks and once used they not needed in the archive .

i would say for archives never go beyond 3 levels of subfolders on windows .
but what do i kno .what i kno is perfect disk keeps the needle super quiet on hdd .
something i cant say bout other defraglers i used .

 

I would love to have a disk like that, but they are too expensive for me, 2TB HDDs are cheap, and I have greater sureness that in the event of a disk failure I will not lose more data than 2 TB. And It's a bit uncomfortable because I have special aluminum cases for these drives and backups. But that doesn't bother me, what matters is data security.

 

Over a few years ive bought about 4 ssd and 2 m2 so in total probably 6tb, all of them except for my main C: is for Sample libraries. C is just for windows and regular plugins , and my pdf's.

 

O, P is reserved for a future system update, it will be a special 5.25" bay for two drives, one HDD and one SSD, I just need to find some time for it

Edit: No one asked how I connected so many drives to one PC my Chinese friends helped me, I bought a special PCIe x1 expansion card with 10 SATA outputs.

YES! When I first started warez-ing this problem made itself known quickly as more releases worth storing showed up. Learned very early on to work out a system whereby any/everything you ever download and store can be looked up in a flash and found easily and cleanly. I have used a disk cataloger proggy for years to catalog the contents of all storage media to a database. The media can be added to the database in about 30 seconds (this function is built into the cataloger), give or take, with varying levels of data collection gathered from the media. There are a few keywords used in release titles when storing like "KONTAKT" for those libraries or "SAMPLES" in the case of a pure sample library. But other than that all storage media are simply given unique names and any releases can be found by a simple name search. The search reveals on which storage media(s) that the search targets are located, and the release(s) retrieved in a matter of a seconds.
