Not sure how I’d send but I can send the raw ncw cause the error occurs likely in the middle of the conversion process and might not be able to go back inside the ncw

 

Yes, your library is probably a bit special.
The downside of automated conversion is that it's not easy to handle all scenarios, but most of the time it does the job.

You can send anything you think can help to diagnose. Not sure to be able to help though, but I'll try.

 

Script updated to 2.0.2, links updated as well.

Fixed: bad directory structure could occur when converting from nkx files, depending on paths lengths.
Added some checks too.

Just tried to shrink a Leap library, the converter needs an option to not automatically convert wav to ncw so leap libraries will work correctly and still be reduced in size, I’m still experimenting with wav libraries so if that’s fine for those to get packed into ncw then all the tool needs is an option that can be disabled temporarily so I can shrink everything then deal with new leap libraries that come and maybe even shrink my own samples if needed

 

I am not sure to fully understand your issue, ncw compression allows reduced size which is what we want here.
Do you have any problem during file conversion?
Still, I tried to process GLeap.House.Grooves.v1.0.0 and found a bug: wav files with brackets [ or ] in the names were not processed.
I fixed it in 2.0.3 version.
So you can try this new version and if the issue still occures please give me more details about it.

Thank you, this will make things faster and I can process everything, now we just need the option to not export as ncw for wav libraries and you just have to fix the occasional library where a ncw might hide other samples, that seems to be what happens when I try shrinking a leap library. Hopefully there’ll be more solutions cause I’ve also been getting some errors about correct wave files that mess up the process that’s unrelated to the names with brackets issue

 

While I do want compression, sometimes you need to be able to process it and have it output all matching files in their respective directories, and make it so if a ncw only has one sampl it shrinks to one with only a single sample inside so even leap libraries can potentially be minimized too

 

Please tell me the exact name of the library you are trying to process so I try to work on it, I can't understand what is the issue here.

Ncw file can be ONLY one sample file, it is a compressed format for a single sample.
I think you mess with NKX and NCW files. The script can handle situations with NKX files, ncw files or Wav files.

 

This "Lite Converter" is a great concept.
eg. 24/32bit depth is great for high-q cinematic or BluRAY masters but a lot of us home/bedroom playboys only need the raw elements of content.
- so downsizing 'giga libraries' is a life-line.

I can’t hear the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit audio anyway, when the bits get low enough yes I can hear the difference but everyone probably can, if I wanted something with high resolution samples I’d probably pick a library from somewhere else like Falcon, HALion or Omnisphere

 

I got Error in Orchestral tools Ark1 1.2 and Ark2 and KONTAKT had no sound when loading converted ncw.
Environment:
– Lite Converter 2.0.3
– Kontakt 8 (v8.6.0, R2R) standalone with admin role
- Windows11(latest)

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any known fixes or workarounds?

The other libs are no issue including other OT libs.I've already tried reinstall the lib.

I had a strange issue where the glockenspiel samples in soniccouture orchestral chimes collection didn’t have sound, but then they worked again after re-shrinking and replacing the previous samples

Actually, I haven't convert 16bit before, so based on your advice, I tried to do the 16-bit conversion with a single nkx file. Then I found an error. Made a little progress, thanks.

It’s possible some libraries just can’t shrink, maybe they do put more than one sample in a ncw? My situation was different because it was a success converting but needed a double convert on one of the pieces for some reason

 

Some errors happen from time to time with ConNCW and very concrete samples. What I do is to convert them manually with Kontakt. It's a pain, but no choice

As Xupito said, conNCW.exe failed to convert ncw file to wav because of a wrong file signature, which means the ncw file's header is not correct.
If it is only one file, maybe nkx extraction failed one this one and creatd a corrupted file, you can try again.
If it is still the same on only one file, you can avoid it before launching conversion (but you have to extract NKX manually) and process it with kontakt: open ncw file directly with Kontakt, go to file / save and save the paych + sample
, uncheck compress sample option, and you will find the wav file in the sample folder along the nki instrument.
You will then be able to convert it manually to 16 bits using an audio editor, and compress it before adding it back with the other files.



Kontakt may indeed be your only way to extract those files.
Metropolis Ark has already been minified so it is possible to convert the library.
Lite Converter can be used after extraction as it can handles wav files as well.

 

I'm sorry for my lack of understanding. How exactly do I manually extracy NKX? After I extract nkxs manually with the Doublecommander with InNKX you posted, I try to open the ncw files and get the same “Unsupported format” error for every ncw files in KONTAKT.
Based on “How To Make Lite Versions of KONTAKT Libraries.pdf”, Step 2 is complete, but for some reason Step 3 won't work.
Even I can't select "patch+Sample' in 'Save As' button in normal Ark2.

Yeah I did. But Error occurs.Wierd
This issue happens in only Ark1 and 2.

When I drag and drop multiple files, I get as many errors as the number of files.
If this is unexplained, I'll just give up. Thanks for helping me.
