You can force the ESU enrolment option to appear in Settings -> Update if you're on a fairly updated version of Windows 10:

Microsoft are going to release another year of security updates for Windows 10 on the consumer ESU channel, until the 12th of October 2027. I'm not sure if that means they're also adding another year of security fixes for LTSC then (2032 -> 2033).

 

These self imposed deadlines mean nothing at all since the update garbage is nothing but a ruse. Falling for the bullshit line of "update or die" is a fools errand. If there is some major security flaw or virus cure that affects the OS directly ms is bound by law to provide a universal patch to fix it outside the confines of their silly "update program". Beyond that, the rest is just junk.

I said it often, all the shitshow you know about windows 11, you don't have that when:

1) Install LTSC version,
2) patch out update service,
3) use startallback or classic shell.
4) switch off memory protection (slows down machine)
5) Be happy

By the way I lately did a cinebench comparison on one exact notebook with that exact cinebench.exe (23) in window 10 and windows 11 ltsc, Windows 11 run substantially faster. Not the gui. the benchmark. and i have less latency on the same hardware with windows 11 compared to windows 10. Just saying. Windows 11 is not as bad as most people think it is.

 

True. Performance of non-Microsoft programs is not a Windows 11 problem. And once tweaked to hell it's as valid as Windows 10. LTSC versions are like half the tweaks out of the box.

I myself will switch to Win11 once (had to postpone it) I mount my new CPU Intel 12600KF. Intel 12K or newer CPUs go ~10% faster with Windows 11 because of its famous new load balancer on cores (Task Scheduler, AMD's also benefit from it). I think I'll go with some X-Lite v24H2 version because it's discontinued so they literally can't fuck it up.

Also, many features of Windows 11 require SSE4.2 instead of Windows 10's SSE2

There is a LTSC version of WIN10 as well. Have used it successfully on more than one occasion. It does make the reverse engineering of new builds much less painful since a lot of the underlying crap existing in the retail version is not present and/or much easier to deal with. As far as the Win10 LTSC being any faster than a retail version, never tried a head to head speed comparison of the two. Although the retail version will without a doubt have more baggage to carry by default, unless it's properly "groomed" to compete with the LTSC version.
