Glad you liked it. I was aware of the band but not that song and found it a few days ago.

I might still have You Make Lovin' Fun, maybe even Rhiannon, somewhere on an older hard drive.

This was the second album I believe that I bought as a kid, the first being Concert For Bangladesh. I had never heard of John Mayall or Eric Clapton but bought it because I mistakenly thought that the sax player on the album, Johnny Almond was one of the Allmann Brother which I liked from the radio. After Sugarcane Harris's incredible violin solo Eric Clapton goes off for 32 bars, the likes of which I had never heard and cemented for me once and for all the majesty of Rock and Roll.

Accidentally Suicide which reflects on the death of Jini Hendrix has no drums. The textures created by Mayall's multi tracking harmonica, Clayton's plucky guitar sound and again Harris's ethereal violin still make my mind wander.

    ~ Cross-Pollinization ~

Aphilas' 'That's Just What It's For' is an apparent reference to, and possibly a sample (at about 3:24) from the below tune, Chilliwack's 'Fly At Night'.

    A 'Like' with the qualifications:

    • Nice distorted-guitar 'wall of sound' 'steamrolling over everything and everyone'.
    • I would be tempted to swap out the voice and incoherence (granted, that could be the point) with something more along the lines of Jaz Coleman's (Killing Joke). You can do that sacreligiously now with AI. (I should look up the lyrics if there are any, but maybe it's a glossolalia thing.) But then I'd probably clash with the band and get kicked out of it to form my own or, failing that, beg for spare change on some steet corner.
    • I like the subtle vocodery chorus too.

What do you think? Did I miss anything you would have me notice/pay attention to?

These guys need something tonal, like a 'proper' wind instrument aside from bagpipes (I'll even take an accordion or harmonica), a female Celt/Gael vocal and/or a wooden keyed instrument-- a proto glock or zylo maybe. (Of course one could scrape that, add those kinds of tracks by midi-fying the drums and so synching the added instrumentation, and throw it back on... and, in turn, any 'revenue' their way.) Anyway, my 'Dislike' is kind of facetious, if only partially. :D

The shirtless guys seem in good shape at least... And drumming is probably quite cardio. (I need to do more sit-ups.)
