16 bit is enough. 8 bit is a great thing too. All primates have thumbs for proper gain staging.

Most all of the "Free File Storages" have a daily limit - some more some less. It's somewhat better with a debrid but the limits are still there...

In 2012/2013 I collected 1831 freeware synthesizers. It is now 2021 and many of the freeware synthesizers are no longer available. Many websites no longer exist, some manufacturers have stopped production or replaced them with new products. So here the "backup" download, is an archive of all freeware synthesizers up to 2012.

How to install Grainz:

The installation of Grainz VSTi is a little different than most VSTs as there are several steps that
require you to manually place files in various places on your hard drive. Please be patient; it is
well worth the effort. The plug-in is unlikely to work is you do not carefully follow these
instructions.

1) Download the .zip files. Here are the links which are current as of this draft of this user guide:

3) Copy the Grainz .dll to your VST plugins folder

5) Important! You don't necessarily have to use the .wavs that you downloaded in Grainz, but you
must place some mono wavs (one channel, not stereo!) into your “Wavs” folder for the plug-in
to work!
6) Download the Sknote support files from this link:

7) Extract those two files and copy them into your ..\Windows\System32 directory, which would
typically be on your C:\ drive
8) If you want to use the presets you've downloaded from the Sknote site you must manually open
them in your host, which will be done differently from host to host. There is no default bank of
presets loaded with Grainz when the plug-in is instantiated (yet).
