    I know this is an audio forum but I figured there’s probably some graphical questions waiting to be asked since you can find adobe bundles in the “museum”…

    What’s the best way to convert a ton of AVIF images to .png all at once? Looking for a way to do this in bulk before moving onto individual image processing cause I have a boatload from somewhere and want to use them in image editors of any kind and not just photoshop or something more sophisticated, in case the editor is for an older Mac from a decade ago for example

    I searched google but I don’t know if any online converters will be the best way to go, I’m looking for an easy offline solution that spits the folder input out with pngs instead, without any adware or such

    Anyone who is able to find such a solution will be involved with the resurrection of my monster projects from when I was in shop class and now unburdened by time or ripoff artists

    Is this available for both windows and macOS? I will give this a shot tomorrow since it’s getting late and maybe some more suggestions will appear overnight

    Yep. it's multiplatform

    The other best option would be ffmpeg.

    XnView has a good batch converter/scripter that will get the job done. I'd be really surprised if IrfanView couldn't do this as well.

    ImageMagick is great if you're comfortable with the command line, something like this will work (though you might want to optimize the parameters a bit):

    For Bash (should work for macOS):

    Code:
    for imgfile in *.avif; do magick convert ${imgfile} $(basename -s.avif ${imgfile}.png); done

    For Powershell (Windows):

    Code:
    foreach($imgfile in gci ".\*.avif") { iex "magick convert $($imgfile.fullname) $($imgfile.basename).png" };

    *edit:* added powershell script

    More options:

    I'm guessing you're on Mac. Extract avifdec into a folder in your path, change avifdec's permissions to readable and executable.

    Then cd to the directory where your avifs are stored and run:
    Code:
    find . -type f -name '*.avif' -exec avifdec {} {}.png \;

    I’ve got a lot more than 10 so I’ll stick to trying some of the other suggestions here unfortunately. Maybe when I get new images that aren’t from the same place it might fit within this limit but right now I have bigger bulk conversion to do first
